Over 9,7 Million BGN Will Be Invested in the Rehabilitation of 14 km of Road II-86 - Sokolovtsi Running through Rozhen Pass

The rehabilitation of 14 km of the second class road ІІ-86 Chepelare – Sokolovtsi from km 80+200 to km 94+372,44 commenced. The symbolic first sod turn of the site, which runs through Rozhen Pass, was made at an official ceremony. The Minister of Regional Development, Desislava Terzieva, and the Chairman of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency, Stefan Chaykov, attended the event. The Project is under the European Territorial Cooperation Program 2007-2013. There must be something symbolic in the fact that this Project is starting up today, on the day, which Road Infrastructure Agency marks the 131 anniversary of its establishment . I am exceptionally happy that I have the honor and the pleasure to commence the start of the Project together with Minister Terzieva, Eng. Chaykov said. Road ІІ-86 is one of the most important thoroughfares in the region of . It carries the heavy traffic between Smolyan and , from the municipalities of Smolyan, Rudozem, Madan, , and Banite and serves about 4.300 motor vehicles at the average per day. The section also ensures the connection with the resort of Pamporovo as well as with the future Border Crossing Checkpoint Rudozem-Ksanti. The Contractor of the Project is DZZD SOKOLOVTZI 2013, which Integrated Road Systems AD and Infrastructural Company AD participate in. The Contract for the construction and assembly works is in the amount of 9.778.037,43 BGN inclusive VAT. The construction supervision will be exercised by EGIS BULGARIA EAD. The rehabilitation of road II-86 Chepelare – Sokolovtsi from km 80+200 to km 94+372,44 is a part of the Project “Developing Quality Accessibility Networks for Creating a Common Future” (Acronym: AccessNet), financed under the European Territorial Cooperation Program Greece – Bulgaria 2007-2013. It is cо-financed by the European Fund Regional Development (85%) and the national budgets of Bulgaria and Greece (15%).
