Editorial Board K. C. Upadhyay (Priest) Prabhakara Rao (Editor) Reva Nayar (President) Diwali Celebration at Hindu Temple Site Please Donate Generously Volume 14 No. 3 1 December 2010 Mandir Vani Page 1 President’s Page Dear Devotees: Please accept Greetings from the Temple staff, Board of Trustees and Blessings from Acharya ji and Pandit ji. The year 2010 has been challenging and demanding for all of us. During this year we have advanced in ambitious initiatives, while continuing to adjust to change of economics up and down. The temple operations have been con- tinuing smoothly with great efforts of operations team. We have been staying above water, so far as income and expense are concerned. Streamlining the operations has been our main focus and with the help of many trustees we have achieved success to a large extent. You may have noticed some improvements and some more will be coming soon. A new website was launched and new policies and procedures were implemented. Credit goes to our sub commit- tees for putting in a lot of time and effort. As these are living documents and we are always looking for improve- ments, your suggestions and ideas are always welcome. Please be involved. We have had many religious celebrations in the last quarter. Janmashtmi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja and Durga Ashtami, Dussehra, Karva Chauth and Deepawali are the main ones. The devotee attendance has ranged from 150 to 550. We thank you for your participation, Acharya ji, Pandit ji and some trustees have devoted many hours dur- ing these functions and their efforts are very much appreciated. We had our annual Bhumi Navgraha Pooja and Havan on September 18, 2010 at the New Hindu Temple site. It was very successful and attended by about 250 devotees and we were able to raise $15,000 in cash, checks and pledges. After the Pooja , the cultural program and some speeches by special Centennial City invitees were held. The ceremony ended with Lunch Prasad. The New Hindu Temple building plans are being revisited. The size, layout and design are being looked at closely. A phased approach will be taken so that the construction can be started at an early date. The funds have been trick- ling in, but rather slowly. For us to accomplish this dream project a large and combined effort is needed. We en- courage and implore all of you in the community to please come forward and give us your help in time and money. We need your interest and sizable financial contributions. The good news is that there is enough money in the pockets of our community. Our request is that some of this money should flow from the pockets of people to the Temple. Every Hindu should practice three things –Meditation,Yagna or sacrifice and Charity. That is why giving Donations are very important for everyone. Serving the Hindu Temple community has been an enriching and rewarding experience for us. We thank you for your devotion and continued support through the year 2010 and wish you and your families a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2011. May God’s blessing be with you. The program started with Ganesh Pooja, followed by Kalash Pooja, Nava Graha Pooja and Havan (Homam) with chanting of Gayatri Mantra 108 times. After various pooja ceremonies, there was a cultural program; a number of local artists performed Indian classical dances and devotional songs.
