We have always understood the value of it here. In an ever-troubled and changing world, culture is a foundation in what it is to be Greater Mancunian, outward facing, welcoming and diverse; to express ourselves and forge our place in the world. Culture and creativity has become more prominent in our work over the last year than ever before. Sometimes, culture can be viewed as a ‘nice-to-have’, a ‘bolt-on’ but we take a different view in Greater Manchester; we see culture and creativity as fundamental to who we are, but also essential to the success of our economy and a key enabler for our residents to fulfil their full potential. The Independent Prosperity Review, the largest economic review we’ve undertaken in ten years, highlighted creativity and digital as key areas for economic growth in Greater Manchester, and we must build on this to see our economy and residents flourish. Whilst we can’t know what employment opportunities might look like in ten, 20 or 50 years, we can ensure that our residents have the creative skills necessary to adapt and develop to the jobs of the future. Equally, beyond Greater Manchester, our international reputation, and subsequent visitor economy, is driven by our position as a leading cultural destination. This report outlines how far we have come in the last year, and the hard work of the brilliant 28 organisations we fund through our Culture and Social Impact Fund. -

The Peel Group - Job Creation and the Skills Agenda The basis of any healthy and prosperous community is access to employment and the development of skills. Peel plays a major role in local communities by creating jobs both directly and indirectly through its developments, and helping to drive a localised skills-based economy linked to future career opportunities. Over the last 20 years, in excess of 13,000 jobs have been created by Peel construction projects through buildings and related infrastructure delivered by the Group. In terms of employment and training opportunities, this has just been the start. Major developments including The Trafford Centre, MediaCityUK, Gloucester Quays and Liverpool2 have created in excess of 20,000 indirect jobs in the retail, media and maritime sectors. At each stage of the development process the Peel Group looks to add value and 13,000+ opportunity through employment and training. During the construction of MediaCityUK, working with main contractor Lend Lease, jobs have been created in Peel ensured that 50% of the jobs created the construction of were taken up by residents from the Greater Peel projects since 1996 Manchester area and a substantial 12,862 people received training as part of the 12,000+ construction process. The construction of a world class media hub in Salford also gave rise to numerous training opportunities with schools and colleges across the North West. A University Technical College, people received training focusing on digital and creative media, has been established to assist 14-18 in the construction of year olds to achieve their aspirations in the rapidly expanding world of MediaCityUK creative media. -

Cultural Digital Designers in Residence in Schools 2020 A project by the Comino / Ideas Foundation partnership in Greater Manchester Schools with Manchester Metropolitan University Project Name: Bygone Bolton CDDIR Name: Tom Cockeram CDDIR Course: MA Product Design Allumnus School DigitalName: Designers Ladybridge in Residence High Schoolin Schools 2016 Teachers Names: Joy Helliwell, Jess Greenhalgh Cultural Organisation: The Science and Industry Museum, Manchester Link Staff Name: Adam Flint Curriculum Areas: Citizenship & Art Pupils Year and Number: 19 yr 8 and 9s Project Overview Students created their own monuments to people and places in Bolton, that were significant in the town’s development during the Industrial Revolution. These were informed by a trip to SIM’s Textiles Gallery and a walking tour of Bolton town centre. The finished sculptures will be exhibited as a 3D map alongside the walking tour so that other students can share the experience. Project Rationale To provide a way for the students to connect with their surroundings. It was identified by their citizenship teacher, Ms Helliwell, that students were aware of global concepts such as slavery and the rights of the child, yet not how they have directly impacted their local landscape. To create a project alongside the students so that they felt they were co-collaborators. The end outcomes were chosen and designed by each group as a way to share the information they had gathered informally. Project Rationale To prepare students with a grounding of what courses and careers are available for them if they were interested in pursuing an art based pathway, and in addition highlight the crossover opportunities between disciplines. -
General Aviation Activity and Airport Facilities
New Hampshire State Airport System Plan Update CHAPTER 2 - AIRPORT SYSTEM INVENTORY 2.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter describes the existing airport system in New Hampshire as of the end of 2001 and early 2002 and served as the database for the overall System Plan. As such, it was updated throughout the course of the study. This Chapter focuses on the aviation infrastructure that makes up the system of airports in the State, as well as aviation activity, airport facilities, airport financing, airspace and air traffic services, as well as airport access. Chapter 3 discusses the general economic conditions within the regions and municipalities that are served by the airport system. The primary purpose of this data collection and analysis was to provide a comprehensive overview of the aviation system and its key elements. These elements also served as the basis for the subsequent recommendations presented for the airport system. The specific topics covered in this Chapter include: S Data Collection Process S Airport Descriptions S Airport Financing S Airport System Structure S Airspace and Navigational Aids S Capital Improvement Program S Definitions S Scheduled Air Service Summary S Environmental Factors 2.2 DATA COLLECTION PROCESS The data collection was accomplished through a multi-step process that included cataloging existing relevant literature and data, and conducting individual airport surveys and site visits. Division of Aeronautics provided information from their files that included existing airport master plans, FAA Form 5010 Airport Master Records, financial information, and other pertinent data. Two important element of the data collection process included visits to each of the system airports, as well as surveys of airport managers and users.
