He has numerous publications on literary theory and art history. Altieri specializes in twentieth- century American and British literature, modern and classical literary theory, literature and the visual arts. His publications include Canons and Consequences (1990), Act and Quality: A Th eory of Literary Meaning (1981), Postmodernism Now (1994) and Th e Particulars of Rapture (2003). Jody Azzouni is Professor of Philosophy at Tuft s University, Medford. He specializes in philosophies of language, logic, mathematics and science. He has a degree of MS in Mathematics from New York University. His publications include Metaphysical Myths, Mathematical Practice: Ontology and Epistemology of Exact Sciences and Talking about Nothing: Numbers, Hallucinations and Fictions . Christian Biet is Professor d’ Etudes Th éâtrales, Université de Paris X. He has specialized in legal and literary (theatrical) theory and general aesthetics. Claude Calame is Directeur d’études, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris, and has published widely on Greek poetry and myth. His most recent books include Myth and History in Ancient Greece: Th e Symbolic Creation of a Colony (2003), Masks of Authority: Fiction and Pragmatics in Ancient Greek Poetics (2005), Poetic and Performance Memory in Ancient Greece: Heroic Reference and Ritual Gestures in Time and Space (2009) and Greek Mythology: Poetics, Pragmatics and Fiction (2009). Renee Conroy is Assistant Professor at the Department of English and Philosophy, Purdue University. She has specialized in contemporary aesthetics, human experience in art, literature, music and fi ction. Lubomír Doležel is Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at the University of Toronto where he founded the Programme in Czech Language and Literature. He has authored several works on literary theory including his essay on Prague Structuralism in Raman Selden (ed.), Cambridge History of Literary Criticism Vol. 8 (1995), Occidental Poetics (1990), Heterocosmica: Possible Worlds and Fiction (1998) and Possible Worlds of Fiction and History: Th e Postmodern Stage (2010). xi xii Notes on Contributors Carl Ehrett is a Faculty Member of the Department of Philosophy, Furman University, Greenville. David Fenner is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of North Florida, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Senior Fellow in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Centre for Ethics. He has specialized in philosophy of fi lm, value theory and environmental ethics. His latest publications are Art in Context (2008) and a chapter on expression in fi lm in Ananta Sukla (ed.), Art and Expression (2012) along with numerous journal articles on philosophy of art. Geraldine Finn is Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Music, Carleton University, Ottawa. Amanda Garcia is currently a post- doctoral researcher at the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research for Aff ective Sciences in the project Th e Impact of Fiction on Evaluative Attitudes. She has specialized in the nature of fi ction, the paradox of emotions and fi ction. Rob van Gerwen is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. His publications include Richard Wollheim on the Art of Painting: Art as Representation and Expression, besides numerous book chapters and journal articles on aesthetics and philosophy of art including a chapter on expression as impression in Ananta Sukla (ed.), Art and Expression (2012). Peter Heron is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at St Mary’s University, Halifax. He has specialized in the history of metaphysics and philosophy of Plato, Hegel and Heidegger. Samuel Kimball is Professor of English at the University of North Florida. He has specialized in psychoanalysis, deconstruction, Greek myths, etymology and pop culture. He has also published on fi lm and media studies, theatre and performing arts. His major publications include Th e Infanticidal Logic of Evolution and Culture (2007). David Konstan is Professor of Classics at New York University and Professor Emeritus of Classics and Comparative Literature at Brown University. His publications include Th e Emotions of the Ancient Greeks: Studies in Aristotle and Classical Literature (2006), Greek Comedy and Ideology (1995) and Friendship in the Classical World (1997). Amy Lee holds a doctorate degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Warwick. She has published on women’s diasporic writing and gender issues in Notes on Contributors xiii contemporary fi ctions and fi lms. Currently she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing at the Hong Kong Baptist University. Jukka Mikkonen is a post- doctoral researcher at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Tempere. His publications include Th e Cognitive Value of Philosophical Fiction (2013), as well as several articles in learned journals. Arkady Nedel teaches philosophy at the University of Sorbonne, Paris. He is a Visiting Lecturer in philosophy at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. His recent publications include Husserl and the Philosophy of Immortality (French) and Oscar Rabin: Painted Life (Russian). Roderick Nicholls is Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, University College of Cape Breton, Sydney, Canada. He has specialized in theatre studies and performing arts. His publications include contributions to various academic journals and book projects. Allen Speight is Professor and Director, Institute of Philosophy at Boston University. He has specialized in Hegel’s metaphysics and philosophy of literature. His publications include Hegel, Literature and the Problem of Agency (2001). Robert Stecker is Professor of Philosophy at Central Michigan University. He is the Editor of Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism and has published a number of books, journal articles and book chapters on aspects of philosophy of art and aesthetics.
