Lindsay Crary TMAPS on Saipan 2008-2012 Abstract.—We established the Tropical Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (TMAPS) program,at six sites (stations) on Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands in 2008. Here we provide results of the first five years (2008-2012) of the TMAPS program on Saipan. In particular, we report on the breeding phenology and vital rates of four species: Micronesian Myzomela (Myzomela rubratra), Rufous Fantail (Rhipidura rufifrons saipanensis), Bridled White-eye (Zosterops conspiculatus saypani), and Golden White-eye (Cleptornis marchei). We also assessed seasonality of habitats using local (Saipan International Airport) rainfall data and remote-sensed vegetation data (enhanced vegetation index [EVI] from the MODIS instrument of the NASA Terra satellite), and we tested hypotheses relating EVI covariates to avian breeding phenology and vital rates.
