www.olrfc.co.ukwww.olrfc.co.uk Welcome to 2019, a momentous year for our club. May I take this opportunity, on behalf of all of us at OL’s, to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year We extend those wishes and that welcome to the players, management and coaches of Shipston on Stour RFC, our opponents today. It seems an appropriate moment to reflect on the year just gone. On the field we have seen the Colts claim the cup and the League winners spot, huge congratulations to all players, coaches and supporters. We have been able to set up two new teams, the Hornets and the girls group. Thank you to everyone who has committed so much time and effort into making this possible. A Veterans side is also waiting in the wings to take on all comers. Our mini and junior section continues to be the envy of other clubs due to the commitment of all involved from coaches, families and a great administration team, well done to all involved. We have had many representatives at both District and county level. This is down to the consistent coaching levels and player welfare that all players receive at the club. I am delighted that six Old Leamingtonians players have been selected for the Warwickshire Schools RFU U16 County squad, and ten of the U18 squad have been selected for district and county sides also. Congratulations from everyone at OLRFC. I am sure there will more OLs players selected in county and district sides throughout the remainder of the season. Our mens’ First team have had a fantastic first half of the league season notching up 10 wins out 12 games only to fall to one side, Pinley, twice! We hope that the wins continue and they can gain the promotion which would be a just reward for the hard work they have put into this season so far. They have progressed to the next round of the Warwickshire Plate cup following Old Eds withdrawal on the first playing Saturday of this year. The ladies team have had a tough season so far, playing some strong teams. They have not let themselves down in terms of effort, improving on each game. They finished the year having just won their cup game to take them into the next round on February 17th at home versus Drybrook. Off the field of course Project NEST is at the forefront of all and as I write this, Wasps are drawing up the planning proposal for delivery to Warwick District planning department. Much to look forward to in all aspects of the OL family. So, in time honoured fashion, all that remains to be said is please support the players and respect the officials in the true OL tradition, enjoy the game and as always, please join us in the bar after the game.
