Welcome to Old Leamingtonians RFC Welcome to Old Leamingtonians RFC Saturday, 5th January 2019 | Old Leamingtonians Vs Shipston on Stour RFC 2:15pm KO ONLY £1 www.olrfc.co.ukwww.olrfc.co.uk Welcome to 2019, a momentous year for our club. May I take this opportunity, on behalf of all of us at OL’s, to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year We extend those wishes and that welcome to the players, management and coaches of Shipston on Stour RFC, our opponents today. It seems an appropriate moment to reflect on the year just gone. On the field we have seen the Colts claim the Warwickshire cup and the League winners spot, huge congratulations to all players, coaches and supporters. We have been able to set up two new teams, the Hornets and the girls group. Thank you to everyone who has committed so much time and effort into making this possible. A Veterans side is also waiting in the wings to take on all comers. Our mini and junior section continues to be the envy of other clubs due to the commitment of all involved from coaches, families and a great administration team, well done to all involved. We have had many representatives at both District and county level. This is down to the consistent coaching levels and player welfare that all players receive at the club. I am delighted that six Old Leamingtonians players have been selected for the Warwickshire Schools RFU U16 County squad, and ten of the U18 squad have been selected for district and county sides also. Congratulations from everyone at OLRFC. I am sure there will more OLs players selected in county and district sides throughout the remainder of the season. Our mens’ First team have had a fantastic first half of the league season notching up 10 wins out 12 games only to fall to one side, Pinley, twice! We hope that the wins continue and they can gain the promotion which would be a just reward for the hard work they have put into this season so far. They have progressed to the next round of the Warwickshire Plate cup following Nuneaton Old Eds withdrawal on the first playing Saturday of this year. The ladies team have had a tough season so far, playing some strong teams. They have not let themselves down in terms of effort, improving on each game. They finished the year having just won their cup game to take them into the next round on February 17th at home versus Drybrook. Off the field of course Project NEST is at the forefront of all and as I write this, Wasps are drawing up the planning proposal for delivery to Warwick District planning department. Much to look forward to in all aspects of the OL family. So, in time honoured fashion, all that remains to be said is please support the players and respect the officials in the true OL tradition, enjoy the game and as always, please join us in the bar after the game. • Shipston-On-Stour
RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION APPEAL HEARING At: Puckrup Hotel, Tewksbury On: 12 June 2019 JUDGMENT Club: Shipston on Stour Panel: Mr John Brennan (Chairman), Mr Nick Dark and Mr John Vale. Secretary: Rebecca Morgan Attendance: Mr Dan Scobie, Chairman of Shipston on Stour. Mr Roger Rees, Secretary Midland Division Organising Committee Regarding: Appeal against a level transfer at level 7 from the Midlands 3 West (South) league to the South West Southern Counties (North) league in the 2019-2020 season. 1. Shipston on Stour RFC (“the Club”) were the league champions of the Midlands 3 West (South) league in the 2018-2019 season. 2. The Club expected to play at level 7 in the Midlands 2 West (South) league in the 2019-2020 season. 3. In the event, the Club were subjected to a level transfer to the South West Southern Counties (North) league. The prospect fills the Club with dread. One can well understand why. Only one away fixture involves a round trip of less than an hour. Two involve a round trip of almost two hours. Eight involve a round trip of around three hours or more. The prospect is so grim that the Club considers the better course would be to withdraw from competitive league matches before the start of next season so as to avoid the disruption that would follow if it were to fail to honour all their fixtures; a prospect which the Club Chairman considered to be unavoidable. Their playing members, all of whom are amateur and many of whom work on Saturdays, would prefer to play for another club or not at all than spend so long on the road in the 2019-2020 season.

Introduction Introduction 01 Neil Allen Associates was commissioned in July 2011 to produce a Strategy for Playing Pitches, Tennis and Bowls (PPS) for Lichfield District. The study updates the existing strategy (2006), which identified a series of issues and priorities, including the need to address shortfalls in the amount of junior and mini football pitches, provide a new artificial surface for hockey and support the qualitative improvement of sites across the district. Between 2006 and 2011 there have been many changes, including investment into new and improved facilities, increased use of school sites and changing requirements for different sports. Lichfield DC and its delivery partners aspire to maintain and build participation in sport and physical recreation and ensure that residents in all parts of the district have sustainable and equitable access to appropriate facilities. To achieve this goal, ongoing monitoring and updates of the Playing Pitch Strategy to reflect changing priorities are therefore of paramount importance. Furthermore, as the strategic and policy context for sport and recreation provision continues to evolve, and new sports are introduced to drive participation increases, investment is under close scrutiny and there is significant pressure to achieve more and better services with fewer resources.
