A warm welcome to Bericote Road and to the management, players and supporters of Woodrush RFC, joining us to play the match scheduled for 15th February when travelling was so difficult. Due to the weather last weekend we had a rare cancellation at the Crofts so, the First team had a rest week. This gives us further respite to recover from injuries, but the team fronted up big time with a character win against Rugby St Andrews two weeks ago, again in difficult conditions. The fixture changes will mean some further juggling in the latter stages of the season so watch this space for news and also on our pitchero site. Apologies for all the work going on in and around the clubhouse, I hope this will not affect your enjoyment today, nor of the remaining Six Nations coverage. All measurements for the steelworks have now been completed, a deposit has been paid so they will now go into production. It is hoped that within four weeks the steels will have been installed and work will start on the windows, please bear in mind that these are estimated time frames. In the meantime the partition will remain in place and the safety barriers also. Can we ask you all to be mindful of the excavation works outside the clubhouse, when it is busy particularly on a Sunday. Can we ask parents to be aware of the need to guide children and visitors, away from here. If you notice any disruption to the safety barrier please inform me immediately, thank you for your patience and for your assistance towards the safety of everyone. Finally, thank you to everyone who has financially contributed or made pledges towards this project, please spread the word! See details in the clubhouse. Lastly remember to keep Friday 20th March free when the Ladies’ section is hosting bingo at the club. Check out from the Club’s websit: www.pitchero.com/clubs/oldleamingtonians where section news, match reports, photos and the result are archived. heart So, as usual, can I wish you all an enjoyable afternoon here at our wonderful Crofts facilities, and ask that you respect the officials and players in the true tradition of OL’s. See you in the bar after; I’m the one cheering on . Don’t forget to wash your hands. LEAMINGTON SPA RADFORD SEMELE www.olrfc.co.uk www.olrfc.co.uk COACH’S CORNER Adam Canning gives us his views: Good afternoon and welcome to The Crofts for our re-arranged home fixture vs Woodrush. Last time out was a superb performance against title contenders Rugby St. Andrew’s that came as no surprise to myself and the other coaches. Our two- week build up into that game saw four great training sessions where the lads really applied themselves and worked really hard to right the wrongs from the defeat to Old Coventrians a few weeks beforehand. I had a really good feeling that it would all come together if the mentality was right on the day and all couldn’t break down their aggressive defence and let 18 players delivered. It was hugely rewarding for both them off the hook too often with poor decision making the coaching team and the players to see everything just when we were starting to apply pressure. They we had worked on put into practice…this time for a also had an excellent result against St Andrews last full 80 minutes and not just short bursts. The next test weekend and currently sit two places above us in the for this squad is to do it week in, week out and be up league table. They are a much improved side from there challenging with the likes of RSA & OC’s over recent seasons and we will have to be as good, if not the course of a 22 game season. better, than last time out in order to come away with Woodrush are our visitors today, and, it’s a great the points. opportunity to revenge a frustrating defeat in the I hope we can all enjoy another good performance reverse fixture earlier in the season. We probably had from the players today and it’s DISCO time again in the more than 70% of both possession and territory but changing rooms after.
