Together, these actions have sparked a global movement, enhancing awareness and raising more than $58 million to support global research, education and medical services. The 2015 BCA Campaign celebrates all the things we do, big or small, in the fight against breast cancer and unites and empowers the global community to take action throughout the year. Action can mean different things to different people. Whether a person proudly wears a Pink Ribbon in honor of a friend, reminds a loved one to schedule her yearly appointments, donates to research or volunteers, every effort truly has meaning and when we join together, we can achieve significantly greater impact. As our founder and guiding spirit, the late Evelyn H. Lauder, always said: It really is something that can never be done by any one person; it has to be done by a group. – EVELYN H. All actions submitted via BCAcampaign.com between October 1 and December 31, 2015 will be eligible for inclusion. This inspiring project will beautifully capture the range of actions being taken globally to end this disease, and will serve as inspiration for everyone around the world to continue to do their part. 7 SIMPLE WAYS TO JOIN US Whether you have been personally affected by breast cancer, know someone who has been, or want to support those across the world who have been touched by the disease, you can take part in meaningful ways. Simple actions in our daily lives can help bring us closer to a world without breast cancer. See your doctor regularly and schedule an annual mammogram if age 40 and older.1 Remind your friends and family to schedule their yearly health appointments. Cook a nutritious dinner at home and donate the $50 you save to fund one hour of critical BCRF research time. Focus on eating healthy. Add vegetables and fruits to every meal, limit consumption of processed and red meats and opt for whole grains instead of refined grains.1 Attend education events or seminars related to breast health and share knowledge gained with others. 1 American Cancer Society 8 Share how you are taking action on BCAcampaign.com or post on social media using #BCAstrength. Consider volunteering to support local breast cancer organizations or participate in local events. Commit to regular, intentional physical activity.1 Try arranging a bike ride with friends, joining a fitness class or taking a brisk walk after work. Communication is key. Lauder courageously and boldly launched The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign in 1992 with the creation of the Pink Ribbon, the universal symbol for breast health. Devoted to the mission to defeat breast cancer through education and medical research and currently active in more than 70 countries, The BCA Campaign has raised more than $58 million to support global research, education and medical services, with close to $46 million funding 185 Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) medical research grants worldwide over the past 21 years. Until her passing in 2011, Evelyn H. Lauder was also Chairman of BCRF, the independent not-for-profit grantmaking organization, which she founded in 1993. For more than two decades, BCRF has been passionately committed to fulfilling its mission: to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by funding the most innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health.
