I would like to thank Lanie Farrelly for the wonderful work she had done on the Bornman family and allowing me to publish Volume 10 of Meyndert Jacobus Bornman, 1825-1896, on her website. To view the different source documents it will be necessary for you to open a free account with https://www.familysearch.org/ The complete Bornman family register is also available on this website. This family register is not without its mistakes. If you do find any mistakes please let me know, and if you do have any source documents to prove your point, even better. Any labled photos or documents are very welcome. Remember it is not my Family Register, it belongs to all of us that can proudly call ourselves Bornman’s. You can Whatsapp me at 0826064570 or Email: [email protected] The other volumes will follow as I complete them. It may take a while because, as you can see it takes a lot of time and effort to create one Volume. Any help, source documents, comments, etc are very welcome. Help on the number of Johan Christiaan Bornman’s and Schalk Jacobus Bornman’s will be helpful. Just because of the sheer number of these decendants it makes researching very difficult and confusing. If you are a latter day Bornman, please send us your information so that me may add you and your family. It will only take 5 minutes of your time. All I need it your full names, as well as that of your spouse and original surname, Where you were born Date of marriage All your siblings, full names, date of birth and where born. And most of all “Where do you fit in the family tree” Page 5 of 46 AFKORTINGS / ABBREVIATIONS * gebore / born ≈ gedoop / baptized x getroud / married xx tweede huwelik / second marriage † oorlede / died # begrawe / buried ÷ geskei / divorced a. aankoms / arrival bej. as bejaarde / as adult BCCR / British Concentration Camp Register BS Britse setlaar van 1820 / British settler of 1820 c. circa (ongeveer / about) dg dogter / daughter dist. distrik / district DN / SK DN / sterfkennis D/R doopregister / B/R DR Dutch Reformed ds. dominee/clergyman d.v. / d.o. dogter van / daughter of GK Gereformeerde Kerk H/R huweliksregister / marriage register LV / MP Lid van Volksraad / Member of Parliament LWV / MLA Lid van Wetgewende Vergadering (Kaap) / Member of Legislative Assembly (Cape) Malherbe D.F. du T.
