Chronic is frequent in daily practice in Asia. Chronic gastritis can frequently prog- ress through the precancerous gastric lesions intestinal metaplasia and gastric intraepithelial neoplasia, resulting in gastric cancer. Major Cause of chronic gastritis and the subsequent de- velopment of stomach cancers is Helicobacter pylori infections. Other causes of chronic gastritis are NSAID consumption, alcohol, stress, autoimmune etc. The treatment strategy for chronic gastritis can be divided into non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic. The non-pharmacologic treatment include s tomach diet, stress therapy and education about the disease. The phar- macologic treatment incluce H2 Receptor Antagonis, proton pump inhibitoir, K channel blocker, cytoprotector, anti anxiety/anti depressants and Antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori infection. The H2 receptor antagonists are , , . The Proton pump Inhibitors include , , , , , . Antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori infections are : Amoxycillin, Clarithromycin, Metronidazole, levofloxacine etc. The cytoprotectors divided into rebamipide, , tephrenone. Rebamipide inhibits the activation of white blood cells, scavenges free radicals, and increases gastric mucus secretion and levels. Simadibrata M et.al. in their study found that rebamipide significantly reduced the extend of symptoms associated with chronic gastritis. The improvement in symptoms was associated with the decreased of endo- scopic score and the mean gastric mucosal malondialdehyde(MDA) significantly. Xan X et.al.from their study found that Treatment with rebamipide 0.1 g three times per day for 26 weeks significantly reduced clinical symptom and gastric mucosal lesion scores as well as in- flammation, intestinal metaplasia, and low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia. Rebamipide is an efficacious for mucosa recovery of chronic gastritis patients.
