The screening will be held at Conserver House, 180 St. John St., Fredericton, on Friday, January 11th at 7PM. The Suffering Grasses seeks to explore the war in Syria through the humanity of the civilians who have been killed, abused, and displaced to the squalor of refugee camps. In all wars, it is civilians—women and children, families and whole communities—who suffer at the hands of those in power. While focusing on the plight of those caught in the crossfire of the hegemons, the film seeks to unravel the conflict by exploring the motivations of its actors--the Ba’athist regime of Bashar al-Assad, the Free Syrian Army and other geopolitical players like the United States, Israel, Russia, China, Iran, Lebanon, Turkey, the Gulf countries... When elephants go to war, it is the grass that suffers. This is a film about the elephants, but made for the grasses. All Cinema Politica documentaries are followed by a discussion about the film for those who wish to stay. Films are free to the public but donations are encouraged to cover expenses. Our Winter 2013 is now available. Check out our fascinating list of films for something to catch your eye and rouse your mind from its hibernation at http://www.cinemapolitica.org/fredericton.
