If at any point we can assist you, please call 800 433 4080 Fair Winds International Marine Standing Rigging The mast is a 2” aluminum extrusion with a slot on the aft side to which the sail’s boltrope or mainsail slides (options item) enter when hoisting the main sail. Attached to the mast will be two side stays, called Shrouds, and a Forestay. These three stainless cables represent the standing rigging of the West Wight Potter 15. The attachment points for the shroud adjusters are on the side of the deck. Looking at the boat you will find ¼” U-Bolts mounted through the deck on either side of the boat and the adjuster goes over these U-Bolts. Once the shroud adjuster slides in, the clevis pin inserts through the adjuster and is held in place with a lock ring. When both side stays are in place we move onto the mast raising. Mast Raising First, remove the mast pin holding the mast base in the bow pulpit. Second, move the mast back towards the mast step on the cabin top of the boat and pin the mast base into the aft section of the mast step (the mast step is bolted onto the cabin top of the boat). The mast crutch on the transom of the boat will support the aft end of the mast.

So, after what seemed to be a very short winter, I think we were all looking forward to the Potter Yachters’ season opening sail at Redwood City on March 21, 2015, and the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Weekend dinner hosted by the Peninsula Yacht Club. Many sailors traveled from far and wide just to make the sail, and stayed overnight on Friday berthed in Docktown, courtesy of the Peninsula Yacht Club. Photo By Walter Brown. 1 Introduction In early June 2015, I successfully completed my 3rd Texas 200, having completed the first two in 2013 and 2014. After my first Texas 200 in 2013, I wrote a very extensive account of my experience. The reason that I wrote such a long and detailed account is simple: during the months leading up to my first Texas 200, I read every account and forum post from the prior years, and I found the information extremely helpful. It was due to this helpful information that I had such a good first year. When I was finished, I wanted to provide my own account so that potential first timers could have additional information from which to draw upon as they prepared for their own adventure. And I decided to spare no details. Maybe my account was too long and too dry. Maybe it was helpful. Either way, it’s out there on the Texas 200 website under the Accounts section from 2013, if you’re so inclined. In 2014, after completing the Florida 120 in May and the TX200 in June, I thought about writing an account that compared and contrasted the two events. For some reason, I just never found the right time and just never got around to it. Now, after completing the 2015 TX200, I found myself in the sharing and writing mood again, and so I’ve drafted this account of my 2015 TX200 experience.
