MENDIP DISTRICT COUNCIL NOTICE OF ELECTION ELECTION OF PARISH COUNCILLORS Notice is hereby given that: 1. An election of Parish Councillors is to be held for the Parishes and Wards of Parishes shown in the Schedule below 2. Nomination papers are to be delivered to the Returning Officer at, Asham, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm on any day after the date of this notice, but not later than 4.00pm on Wednesday 3 April 2019. 3. Forms of nomination papers may be obtained at the Election Office, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT from the undersigned, who will, at the request of any elector for the said Parishes and Wards of Parishes, prepare a nomination paper for signature. 4. If an election is contested, the poll will take place on THURSDAY, 2 MAY 2019. 5. New applications to register to vote at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by midnight on Friday 12 April 2019. Applications can be made online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. 6. Electors and their proxies should take note that applications for new postal votes, or cancellation of, or changes to existing applications, to be treated as an absent voter, for example different address for the ballot paper to be sent, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5.00pm on Monday 15 April 2019 if they are to be effective for this election. 7. Electors and their proxies should also note that applications for new proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5.00pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019 8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip District Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5 p.m. on Thursday 25 October 2018. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019.
