The Mendip Hills AONB Management Plan once adopted is a material consideration in the planning process, both for plan-making and decision-taking. Attached, proposed agenda for the Planning Workshop to be held on Monday, 4th June 2018, 9:30 (start 10:00)-1:00 (lunch provided) at the Mendip Hills AONB Unit offices at Charterhouse in the Mendip Hills. Please could you forward on the invitation to relevant planning managers and it would be good to have at least 1-2 representatives (planning or landscaping officers) from the Local Planning Authorities and Natural England. It will also be a good opportunity for officers from the different LPAs/Natural England to liaise on the Mendip Hills AONB and cross-boundary considerations. Much of the content was originally published in book form as part of Thirty Generations of The Scudamore/Skidmore Family in England and America by Warren Skidmore, and revised and sold on CD in 2006. The material from this CD has now been transferred to the website of the Skidmore/ Scudamore One-Name Study at www.skidmorefamilyhistory.com. Warren Skidmore produced in 2013 his Occasional Paper No. 46 Scudamore Descendants of certain Younger Sons that came out of Upton Scudamore, Wiltshire. In this paper he sets out the considerable circumstantial evidence for the origin of the Scudamores later found at Wellow, Somerset, as being Bratton Clovelly, Devon. Interested readers should consult in particular Section 5 of this, Warren’s last Occasional Paper, at the same website. The original text used by Warren Skidmore has been retained here, apart from the following. • Code numbers have been assigned to each male head of household, allowing cross-reference to other information in the databases of the Skidmore/ Scudamore One-Name Study. Ältere Allgäu-Schichten (Unter- bis Mittellias), kalkreich. B. Mittlere Allgäu-Schichten (unterer Oberlias), mergelreioh. C. Jüngere Allgäu-Schichten (oberer Oberlias und Dogger), kalkreich. Diese Abteilungen konnten gebietsweise jedoch noch in mehrere Gruppen unterteilt werden. Die in der Schichtfolge beobachteten Faziestypen werden kurz charakterisiert und genetisch gedeutet. Nach Mächtigkeits- und Fazies-Verteilung wird dann ein paläo- geographischer Überblick für die einzelnen Abteilungen entworfen. Fragen der Groß- tektonik, unter anderem das Problem Deckenbau oder gebundene Tektonik, können daran überprüft werden. (The A37 starts from Three Lamps junction, not far from Temple Meads railway station in the centre of Bristol.) At Farrington Gurney turn left onto the A362. Follow this through Midsomer Norton to central Radstock. In the centre of Radstock is a double mini-roundabout. Turn right onto the A367, sign-posted to Shepton Mallet, Yeovil and Wells. About 1-1 ½ miles along this road, turn right down Longfellow Road. (Westfield Primary School is on the corner; look for the large playground on your right and turn immediately after it.) Fosse Way School is about 250 yards down Longfellow Road on your right. Car parks are situated at both the front and rear of the school. Disabled parking is available at the front of the school. If you park on a public road near to the school, please do so considerately, ensuring that you do not obstruct any of our neighbours' driveways. Directions from Bath Leave Bath on the A367, sign-posted to Yeovil and Exeter. (You can reach the A367 by following the Wellsway from Churchill Bridge in the town centre, or by turning right at the top of Rush Hill.) Follow this road to Radstock. The database makes it possible to order references to an object in many ways including in terms of dedication, location, date, and possible authenticity, and it makes data available to derive some history of the object in order to assess the reliability of the information it presents. -

She is a strong, energetic spinster of about 28 years of age, tanned and masculine in expression …” (Aurousseau, 1968). Gideon Mantell, a 19th century British palaeontologist, made a less flattering remark when he wrote in his journal, “… sallied out in quest of Mary An- ning, the geological lioness … we found her in a little dirt shop with hundreds of specimens piled around her in the greatest disorder. A new plesiosaur from the Lower Jurassic of Portugal and the early radiation of Plesiosauroidea. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 66 (2): 369–388. A new plesiosaur partial skeleton, comprising most of the trunk and including axial, limb, and girdle bones, was collected in the lower Sinemurian (Coimbra Formation) of Praia da Concha, near São Pedro de Moel in central west Portugal. The specimen represents a new genus and species, Plesiopharos moelensis gen. et sp. nov. Phylogenetic analysis places this taxon at the base of Plesiosauroidea. Its position is based on this exclusive combination of characters: presence of a straight preaxial margin of the radius; transverse processes of mid-dorsal vertebrae horizontally oriented; ilium with sub-circular cross section of the shaft and subequal anteroposterior expansion of the dorsal blade; straight proximal end of the humerus; and ventral surface of the humerus with an anteroposteriorly long shallow groove between the epipodial facets. In addition, the new taxon has the following autapomorphies: iliac blade with less expanded, rounded and convex anterior flank; highly developed ischial facet of the ilium; apex of the neural spine of the first pectoral vertebra inclined posterodorsally with a small rounded tip. This taxon represents the most complete and the oldest plesiosaur species in the Iberian Peninsula.
