Trust Me is made by RED Production Company through BBC Scotland and will be internationally distributed by STUDIOCANAL. Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch, Adult Life Skills) will star as Cath Hardacre; a hardworking and skilled nurse, who, having lost her job for whistle-blowing, is forced to take drastic measures to provide for her daughter. Out of desperation, Cath seizes the opportunity to steal her best friend’s identity as a senior doctor and start a new life in Edinburgh. Burying herself deeper and deeper in the imposter persona, she realises she could get everything she ever wanted - but with her old life threatening to destroy her fragile creation, how far will she go to protect it? Jodie said: “I'm so excited to be a part of this project. It's an incredibly challenging piece with a fantastic cast and crew. I haven't played a role like this before, and can't wait for it to start filming.” Joining Jodie will be Emun Elliott (The Paradise, Threesome) who will play Dr Andy Brenner. A senior doctor within the A&E department, Andy is smart, witty, charming and was born and raised in Edinburgh. Emun commented: “Looking forward to working with Jodie and the fantastic cast on what promises to be a fascinating glimpse into the highs and lows of working within the NHS. The scripts are excellent and what's more - we're shooting in Scotland. It's always nice to come home.” Sharon Small (Stonemouth, Mistresses) will star as Dr Brigitte Rayne – the consultant in charge of the department. A force of nature within the department and when not in scrubs, Brigitte is the first in line at the pub and the last to leave. When Brigitte’s secret is exposed, her friendship with Cath is tested to the limit. Best-known for his role as Neil in The Inbetweeners, Blake Harrison will play Karl, Cath’s ex-boyfriend and father of their daughter. Karl’s life crashed down around him after her lost his job and turned to alcohol. After his wife, Cath (Whittaker) moves to Edinburgh with their daughter he finds himself going to desperate measures to get his family back. Directed by John Alexander (Indian Summers, Small Island, Sense & Sensibility) and Amy Neil (Call the Midwife, Bedlam, The Cut), Trust Me is a drama written by doctor, Dan Sefton. Sefton says: “Having worked as a doctor within the NHS for most of my adult life, I know only too well that it provides the perfect setting for a contemporary drama - the characters, the (often literal) pain - as well as the affection and dedication of staff. Trust Me shows all of that but its central story is Cath, a decent, honourable woman who, when everything is falling apart, takes a huge risk in search of a better life. A life that she will fiercely protect.” Also starring are Nathan Walsh as investigative journalist Sam Kelly, Lois Chimimba as nurse Karen, Michael Abubakar as Dr Charlie McKee, and Cara Kelly, as Cath’s neighbour Mona. Nicola Shindler, founder and executive producer, RED Production Company, says: “This drama is about identity, lies and a woman’s desperation to escape the pain and disappointment of her old life. Dan’s exceptionally realistic scripts are layered with complex characters and a gripping storyline that will keep viewers hooked in this psychological thriller.” Set and filmed in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow, the series continues the BBC’s commitment to boosting and invigorating drama in Scotland. Written by Dan Sefton, Trust Me is produced by Emily Feller and executive produced by Nicola Shindler Executive Producer for RED Production Company and Gaynor Holmes for BBC Scotland. Farmers arriving with their pedigree stock expect the best of attention from the mart staff, but there is a problem – a burst pipe means, no one will be able to wash their sheep and cattle. Yard Supervisor Robbie Cruikshank pulls out the stops to come up with a solution before things get out of hand. Far from the mart in rural Perthshire head sheep auctioneer Colin Slessor is on an away day pricing up Blackface lambs for former colleague and old friend Finlay McIntyre. Finlay sold alongside Colin at Thainstone until a year ago when he left to become farm manager on an estate at Kinloch Rannoch Also on an away day is Mart Man Charlie Morrison – he’s visiting Gordon and Lorna Hector at their Aberdeenshire farm. The couple are retiring and Charlie is tasked with selling over 40 years’ worth of farming equipment and possessions in a specialist sale known as a Roup. It’s the end of an era for Gordon and Lorna, and Charlie is determined to make the day a success! He’ll be selling everything from big tractors to family heirlooms. There are hundreds of lots and hundreds of potential bidders. In Fochabers, Simmental breeder Iain Green and his daughter Laura are preparing Guinness their pedigree bull for the Christmas Classic. Guinness weighs over a tonne so Laura uses a tractor to train him to walk on the rope – it’s the safest way for all concerned and will hopefully do the trick when he steps into the show ring for the first time. Come the day of the Christmas Classic the stress is beginning to show and Guinness plays up in the show ring before the sale. Despite his shenanigans he wins the pedigree Simmental bull category. In Dundee hoping to get good prices are Colin Slessor and head auctioneer Alan Hutcheon. They are selling off seventy sculptures of iconic comic strip character Oor Wullie. The funds raised will go towards providing a new operating theatre at Tayside children’s hospital. Charity auctioneering is something the lads have done before, last year Alan got £55,000 for a fibreglass dolphin, and there is a friendly rivalry to see if that record can be beaten. HM _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Scottish Bounty Hunter NEW Monday 13 February BBC One Scotland, 10.40-11.40pm Covered in tattoos and over 6ft tall, Christian Matlock could be movie-star casting for the role of a US bounty hunter. But this boy from Brechin is the real deal. Based in Virginia Beach on America's Atlantic coast, he spends his days and nights hunting and apprehending fugitives who have skipped bail. This film, made by Mentorn Scotland, follows Christian on the chase, and discovers how a chequered past in Scotland has helped him succeed in this dangerous job. He was 21 when he left Brechin. Says Christian: “I was at a point where I was getting into a lot of trouble, couldn’t find a job. Plus I thought America looked a lot cooler in the movies so I thought I’d come and give it a try.” Gun-toting Christian – 28 at the time of filming – is now very much immersed in his work as a Bail Enforcement Agent. But the film delves below the stereotype to show the unique relationships he builds with some of the people he comes across, from offenders with drug addiction to their families striving to get back to a normal life. And it follows him back to Brechin, where he reflects on his younger days there.
