  • Written Submission from Falkirk Council – Petition Pe1102
PE1102/F WRITTEN SUBMISSION FROM FALKIRK COUNCIL – PETITION PE1102 1. Background 1.1 Falkirk Council, like many local authorities, is strongly opposed to the closure of post offices in the Falkirk Council area. The Council recognises the important social function that post offices have, and that for many individuals in our communities, the post office functions as the main village or local shop. These facilities are used largely by elderly people, people with young children and those with mobility problems to purchase essential items. 1.2 The Council has for a number of years used post offices to provide services such as rent collection etc. Since 1979, Falkirk Council has supported the local area Post Office Network through the facility for tenants to make payment of rent at post offices. This was extended to include council tax payments in 1996. Our contract is with the Alliance & Leicester. Payments are made through a service known as 'BillPay'. Payments are made using plastic payment cards issued by Falkirk Council which can be used to pay rent and/or council tax at the Council's One-Stop-Shops and any post office in the UK. This method of payment is 1 of 7 options that are available to our customers. 1.3 As a result of the development of more efficient and convenient methods of payment, e.g. by Direct Debit, via the Web and by telephone, and the reduction in the Council's housing stock through the right to buy, the number of payment transactions made at post offices has reduced year on year over the past 10 to 15 years.

Wallacestone Primary School Braemar Gardens Brightons Falkirk FK2 0JB Telephone: 01324 506760 Headteacher: Evelyn Macdonald 20th December 2016 Children’s Services Dear Parents/Carers SCHOOL CLOTHING I would like to inform you that we are in the process of setting up an online system for ordering school and nursery uniform. We intend to have this up and running by the end of January. Our supplier for clothing is Border Embroideries, now known as BE SCHOOLWEAR. We have not increased prices of our clothing for many years, however, as the company are increasing their prices from January 2017, I’m afraid that we will have no option but to increase our prices too. Clothing will no longer be available to order via the school office (apart from ties). Orders made online can be delivered to your home address (costs £4.99 or free delivery if you spend £50 or more). There will also be the option of free delivery to the school - the company will guarantee delivery to the school within 20 days of ordering. As you will be aware, BE SCHOOLWEAR have a shop in Falkirk (32 Vicar Street) where uniform can also be purchased. Yours sincerely Evelyn Macdonald HEADTEACHER Director : Robert Naylor Address: Sealock House 2 Inchyra Road. Grangemouth. • Electoral Rolls and Valuation Rolls Finding Aid
Falkirk Archives (Archon Code: GB558) FALKIRK ARCHIVES Local authority records Electoral Rolls and Valuation Rolls Finding Aid This finding aid lists all the electoral rolls and valuation rolls held in Falkirk Archives for the Falkirk area. The information is also repeated in the appropriate Burgh and Parish finding aids. The valuation rolls and electoral rolls in this finding aid are arranged by the place they refer to rather than by the different local authorities responsible for creating them. However, researchers should note that after 1975, both valuation rolls and electoral rolls were compiled in volumes which covered the whole of Falkirk District. Before 1975 records were compiled separately for each Burgh and for the County as a whole. Falkirk Archives holds the records for Bo’ness, Denny & Dunipace, Falkirk and Grangemouth. The valuation and electoral rolls for other towns and villages, such as Bonnybridge, Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Polmont, Brightons, Slamannan, Maddiston, Redding, Whitecross, Shieldhill, California, Avonbridge and rural areas were compiled in volumes by the County of Stirling and these records are held by Stirling Council Archives. Please note that, by law, full electoral rolls less than ten years old may only be consulted for electoral purposes and may not be copied. Falkirk Archives holds very few pre-1975 electoral rolls. The National Library of Scotland holds electoral rolls for the whole of Scotland from 1947 to the present. Falkirk Archives (Archon Code: GB558) Valuation & rating Valuation Rolls were first compiled in 1855 as a result of the Lands Valuation (Scotland) Act 1854 (17 & 18 Vict. c.91). They were compiled annually, and different local authorities were responsible for compiling the rolls in different areas and at different times.

  • Decision and Statement of Reasons of the First-Tier Tribunal for Scotland
DECISION AND STATEMENT OF REASONS OF THE FIRST-TIER TRIBUNAL FOR SCOTLAND Under Rule 8 of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland Housing and Property Chamber Rules of Procedure 2017 (“the Rules”) In respect of 67 Kelvin Street, Grangemouth (“The Property”) Applicant(s): Mrs Kar Len Tran, 23 Redding Road, Brightons, Falkirk, FK2 0AA Respondent(s): Miss Sharlene McCabe and Mr Colin Kane, 67 Kelvin Street, Grangemouth, FK3 8EX Case Reference: FTS/HPC/EV/19/3357 At Glasgow on 20 November 2019, Andrew McLaughlin, Legal Member of the First-Tier Tribunal with delegated powers of the Chamber President, rejected the above application in terms of rule 8 of the Rules for the following reasons: 1. The Applicant raises an Application in respect of Rule 66 seeking an Eviction order in respect of the above Property. 2. The Application is founded upon a Notice to Quit and Notice under s33 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988 that sought to have a Short Assured Tenancy in respect of the Property ended as at 5 December 2019. Accordingly the Respondent has not been provided with adequate notice prior to this Application being brought. This Application is accordingly premature. In any event, the dates of the proposed ending of the tenancy do not tie with what would be the ish date of the tenancy, which continues on a month to basis following on from the ending of the contractual period on 2 June 2018. 3. I consider that it is not appropriate to accept the Application in terms of Tribunal Rule 8 (C) which allows for an Application to be rejected by a Legal Member of the Tribunal on behalf of the Chamber President if “they have good reason to believe that it would not be appropriate to accept the application.” The Application is therefore rejected.

  • Stirling County Building Warrants
Falkirk Archives (Archon Code: GB558) FALKIRK ARCHIVES Local authority records Stirling County Council Building Warrants Finding Aid Administrative History The origins of building standards were in the Dean of Guild Courts of the medieval Royal Burghs. Their powers to hear offences against neighbourliness gradually evolved into modern planning and building control regulations. From 1862 Town Councils were permitted to set up Dean of Guild Courts and from 1892 all town councils were required to set up Dean of Guild Courts. The Dean of Guild Courts had powers to impose conditions relating to public health under the 1862 Police Act. County Councils had similar powers from 1889. Scope and Contents Building warrant files, building warrant application registers and annotated Ordnance Survey maps, for the geographical area formerly administered by Stirling County Council and now administered by Falkirk Council. Building warrant files contain the plans, petitions (ie applications), completions certificates, correspondence and related papers submitted to the local authority for permission to build or to make structural alterations to domestic and public buildings under successive building control and building standards legislation. The Registers provide a summary list of applications and their outcome. Arrangement Stirling County Council building warrants from c 1900-1964 were separated into geographical areas and this order has been maintained. The red area covers the south and east of the former County of Stirling, including Shieldhill, Polmont and the Braes. The yellow area covers the areas around Bonnybridge, Denny and Dunipace. The blue area covers Airth, Larbert and Stenhousemuir. However it should be noted that some building warrant files were put into the “wrong” colour-coded area and there has been no attempt to correct this.
