OFFICE PROFILE

The PDEA Regional Office IV-A, or PDEA RO IV-A, is among the Agency’s 18 regional offices nationwide, which has primary operational control, supervision and jurisdiction in Southern Luzon covering five provinces namely: , Laguna, , and (CALABARZON)

CALABARZON is formally known as Southern Tagalog Mainland and designated as Region IV-A. It has a total land area of 16,873.31 km or 6,514.82 sq m. Based from 2015 census, its total population is 14,414,774 and has a density of 850/km or 2,200/sq m. It is composed of five (5) provinces, 19 cities, 124 municipalities, 4,011 barangays and 19 congressional districts.

After the enactment of Republic Act No. 9165 in July 2002, the PDEA RO IV-A office was housed at the PNP Regional Office IV-A, Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City, Laguna. As a Regional Office (RO), it has the following functions:

- Implement anti-drug policies, programs and projects. - Conduct anti-drug operations, neutralize drug personalities, file cases of arrested personalities, conduct casing and surveillance operations and information campaign. - Monitor all the activities of drug personalities listed in the watch list within the region and report progress to the national office; monitor the status of drug cases.

Regional Director and assisted by IAV MELVIN MELVIN S ESTOQUE, Assistant Regional Director.

In 2008, plantilla positions were created for PDEA, in which 9 organic personnel holding different administrative and technical positions reported at PDEA RO IV-A. Drug Enforcement Officers (DEOs) who graduated from the PDEA Academy of six (6) month Drug Enforcement Officers (DEO) Basic Course were also assigned in this Regional Office to cater to the demands of anti-drug problems of the region.

In March 25, 2014, PDEA RO IV-A inaugurated its newly built Forensic Laboratory. The Regional Laboratory handles all forensic chemical analysis and examinations of all seized evidence and the conduct of drug tests to all drug personalities arrested.

By virtue of Memorandum Circular Number 2017-016 dated February 23, 2017, PDEA Provincial Offices were established to effectively address the drug problem and facilitate better collaboration with partners in the implementation of the anti-drug programs. It was hailed as the BEST REGIONAL OFFICE in July 2008 for its outstanding accomplishments, observance of ethical standards and relationship with the community under the leadership of its 8th Regional Director, PSUPT CHRISTOPHER N ABRAHANO. For the period 2008 to 2010, PDEA RO IV-A under the same Regional Director, had been rated Very Satisfactory in Performance Evaluation given by the Agency. For the period, January to May 2017, PDEA Regional Office garnered the first rank amongst all Regional Offices in accomplishing its targets specifically reaching 308% accomplishment of targets under the helm of its then Regional Director, Dir III ARCHIE A GRANDE, CESE. Recently, under the leadership of Dir III ADRIAN G ALVARIÑO, MDM, MPA, CESE, the Regional Office was awarded for its exemplary conduct of anti-drug operations with the highest number of foreign nationals arrested and seizure of more or less 400 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as shabu.
