To our knowledge, the only organization handing out enter- Wtainment-related awards at the time was the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, whose Anthony Awards are limited to its own productions. Since that time, several other entities have begun similar awards, including the local newspaper, which celebrates every kind of everything and has managed to monetize the entire pro- cess. Given this proliferation of honors over the 17 years, it seems to us that the Whammys have now run their course. At the very least, they’ve become redun- dant. And so, it’s with a somewhat heavy heart that we announce the end of the Whammys.
