SHRI Bhubaneswar Kalita: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that North East Frontier Railway (NFR) is in the process of providing more trains with new generation coaches; (b) if so, the details thereof along with names of the trains which would be provided with these coaches and the cost thereof; and (c) the extent to which these coaches would provide safety and comfort to the passengers? THE MINISTER OF RAILWAYS (SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL): (a) to (c) A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. Statement (a) to (c) Yes, Sir. The passenger coaches plying over Indian Railways have been designed with the necessary safety features considering the operating conditions over Indian Railways. However, with a view to providing safer and more comfortable journey to passengers, Indian Railways have decided to proliferate new generation coaches, namely, Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, which are technologically superior, safer and have better riding and aesthetics as compared to conventional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches. LHB coaches have higher carrying capacity, higher speed potential, and increased codal life as compared to ICF coaches. LHB coaches also have better safety features than ICF coaches because of a superior design that reduces the chances of derailment and reduces the possibility of grievous injury or death in case of accidents. The Production Units of Indian Railways, from the year 2018-19 onwards, are producing only LHB coaches. Replacement of trains operating with conventional coaches into Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches is being done in a phased manner. -

Fare of tatkal charges is 1.5 times of Humsafar basic fares. Other charges like reservation fee, superfast surcharge, GST etc. as applicable are levied separately. Catering charge is optional for meals. The fare of Humsafar is inclusive of bedroll charges. The advance reservation period (ARP) will be 120 days. Antyodaya train: Antyodaya Express train is a long distance superfast service with fully unreserved coaches. Base fare of unreserved second class of Antyodya Express train is 15% higher than the base fare of unreserved second class of Mail/Express trains. Other changes like superfast surcharges, Mela surcharge if applicable etc. is levied separately. Tejas Express: The basic fare of AC chair car and Executive class of Tejas Express is 1.20 times of the basic fare of respective classes of Shatabdi trains. -

PALA: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to complete installation of bio- toilets in all the trains by December, 2018 and if so, the details thereof; (b) the percentage of trains where bio-toilets have been installed as on date and the details of the same; (c) whether the Government has taken serious note of the study conducted and submitted to them by IIT-Madras which has found that the bio-toilets are ineffective and ill maintained and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and (d) the other measures being taken by the Government to rectify the issues concerned with the bio-toilets? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN) (a) The earlier plan to install bio-toilets in the entire fleet of coaches by the year 2021-22 has been advanced to the year 2019. Further, Indian Railways has set in-house target to complete the work of installation of bio-toilets in all coaches by June 2019. (b) As of now, approximately 60% of the total passenger carrying coaches over Indian Railways have been installed with bio-toilets. Preface Huge investments are being committed in new infrastructure projects in developing countries. Infrastructuresare long-life assets and are designed to withstand normal variability in climate regime. The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a railway line operating for the past decade on the western coast of India, has met with two major accidents since its inception due to bad weather conditions. This case study presents the uncertainties and risks that such infrastructure assets face due to the changing climate, and suggests possible adaptation strategies. A framework for assessing the likely climate change impacts on long-life assets, using a methodology of reverse matrix for climate change impact analysis, is also suggested. The framework links climate change variables – temperature, rainfall, sea level rise, extreme events, and other secondary variables – and sustainable development variables – technology, institutions, economic, and other policies. -

One of the passengers in an e-ticket should carry proof of identification during the train journey. 3. Voter ID card/ Passport/PAN Card/Driving License/Photo Identity Card Issued by Central/State Government are the valid proof of identity cards to be shown in original during train journey. 4. The input for the proof of identity in case of cancellation/partial cancellation is also not required now. 5. The passenger should also carry the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) during the train journey failing which a penalty of Rs. 50/- will be charged by the TTE/Conductor Guard. 6. Time table of several trains are being updated from July 2008, Please check exact train starting time from boarding station before embarking on your journey. 7. For normal I-Ticket, booking is permitted at least two clear calendar days in advance of date of journey. 8. For e-Ticket, booking can be done upto chart Preparation approximately 4 to 6 hours before departure of train. For morning trains with departure time upto 12.00 hrs charts are prepared on the previous night. 9. Opening day booking (90th day in advance, excluding the date of journey) will be available only after 8 AM, along with the counters.
