I Can Only Imagine (Mercy PraiseCharts Worship Band Series This arrangement has been created I Can Only Imagine to synchronize with the Integrity iWORSH!P DVD series. Words & music by Bart Millard DVD A – Song 4 Integrity Arranged for by Dan Galbraith Stock # Based on the popular recording from the MercyMe album 25785 “Almost There” The PraiseCharts Worship Band Series is a unique and growing series of arrangements by some of today’s top new arrangers. It is geared towards a contemporary “R&B horns” praise band sound while at the same time being scalable up to a medium-sized church orchestra. The core parts (rhythm, vocals, and brass) may be enhanced with the other parts in any combination. The layout and look was very carefully chosen to provide a fresh and relaxed, yet professional look for the player. Rhythm section: The Rhythm part is for the section player (pianist, guitarist, or drummer) with all the specific rhythms and chords necessary for the arrangement. The Lead Sheet is a combination rhythm and vocal chart meant for the vocalists, worship leader, or rhythm player needing more vocal cues. Piano, Vocal includes a full piano part in “songbook format” for those not comfortable with playing from a chord chart. When playing with a complete band the pianist might simplify this part in order to "stay out of the way". Vocals: The vocal arrangement should be sung as SAT (Soprano, Alto, Tenor) with the baritone/basses singing the melody (soprano) down an octave – any exceptions are listed on the score. When the part is written in unison, the men should sing it down one octave or it may be done as a solo. This method provides a contemporary sound in an easy-to-learn fashion. Alternate keys: There is one alternate key included to accommodate either a keyboard-based band or a guitar-based band, to give the orchestra a more playable key, or to make the vocal range a little more accessible if necessary. Other notes: Rehearsal numbers are given in the form of “1”, “2”, and “3”, providing the easy use of finger signals by the worship leader who may want to make impromptu changes during worship. Normally, “1” is the verse of the song, “2” is the chorus, and “3” is a bridge or other section, but there are exceptions. When a section is repeated in its entirety later in the arrangement, it is labeled “1a” or “2a”, etc. All endings and repeats are clearly notated to facilitate these impromptu changes. Finally, each instrumental part includes lyric cues to aid the player in keeping their place. Parts included in the PraiseCharts Worship Band Series Lead Sheet – for worship leader and vocalists Piano/Vocal – includes written-out piano part and vocals Rhythm – more detailed chart for keyboard, guitars, and drums. Ac. Guitar – modified Rhythm part in appropriate capo keys Core Worship Band instrumental parts (written as a section): Brass stylings: For most titles, the brass parts should be interpreted with jazz articulations and stylings in mind. They Trumpet 1-2 Trumpet 3 (doubles Alto Sax) have been notated very carefully to aid the player in this Alto Sax Tenor Sax 1-2 (doubles Trombone) interpretation. Trombone 1-2 Additional Orchestral parts (these enhance the arrangement, but the Worship Band parts may also stand alone): Bass Trombone/Tuba Percussion (Timpani, Bells, Sus. Cymbal, etc) Written with core brass Bari Sax (doubles Bass Trombone) Written as a section Horn 1-2 (French Horn) Flute/Oboe 1-3 Written as a section Clarinet (doubles 3rd Flute) Strings (Synth) - may be played by a synth or by a full string section (Violin/Viola on top staff, Cello/Bass on bottom staff) Lead Sheet PraiseCharts Band Series Key - E I Can Only Imagine Bart Millard Med. ballad Arr. by Dan Galbraith iWORSH!P™ count-in:q = 82 8 beats E œ œ A œ. œ ˙ œ œ œ œ # # œ. œ œ œ œ œ œ œ œ. œ œ # # 4 . œœ ˙˙ œ ‰ & (Pno.) œ œ 4 1.œ I canœ on - ly im-œ 1 2 A2 5 PE - F # ## & # . He gave me these seventy- five verses and state- ments while I was unpacking my past and starting to understand who I truly am in Jesus. Ever since then, I have carried these close to my heart. I pray these will minister to you the way they have to me so that you, too, can understand that in Christ, you are free indeed! 1. John 1:12—I am a child of God. 2. John 15:1–5—I am a part of the true vine, a channel (branch) of His life. 3. John 15:15—I am Christ’s friend. 4. John 15:16—I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit. 5. Acts 1:8—I am a personal witness of Christ for Christ. 6. Romans 3:24—I have been justified and redeemed. 7. Romans 5:1—I have been justified (completely forgiven and made righteous) and am at peace with God. 8. Romans 6:1–6—I died with Christ and died to the power of sin’s rule in my life. APPENDIX 1 9. Romans 6:7—I have been freed from sin’s power over me. 10. Romans 6:18—I am a slave of righteousness. 11. Romans 6:22—I am enslaved to God.

  • “No Trouble in My Heart” Psalm 31: 1-5, 15-16 Fifth Sunday of Easter 1 Peter 2: 2-10 Mother’S Day/Festival of the Christian Home John 14: 1-14
“No Trouble in My Heart” Psalm 31: 1-5, 15-16 Fifth Sunday of Easter 1 Peter 2: 2-10 Mother’s Day/Festival of the Christian Home John 14: 1-14 Our gospel reading from John records part of Jesus’ “Farewell Discourse” to his disciples. It might seem a little out of place in this Easter season. Why are we now hearing Jesus bid a formal goodbye when we have already celebrated his resurrection? And yet, what better time, for they are plain words of hope and comfort in a time of extreme difficulty and anxiety. These words, and more verses from the Fourth Evangelist are often read at memorial and funeral services because they shed light on the theology of the Gospel writer, especially his (or perhaps her) view on the resurrection. There is certainly comfort in the words. Jesus promised his disciples—and us—that there is something beyond this life. I think at one time or another we have all had images of what lies beyond this life. I watched an old movie a couple of nights ago that showed one writer’s image. Ghost is the story of a man who is shot and killed in a bungled robbery, and he spends some time as a ghost trying to figure out what led to his murder. There are a lot of hokey special effects, but the movie’s description of death is that as the spirit leaves the body, one of two things happen. Either the person’s soul is invited into a stream of brilliant, sparkling light that eventually leads to a vision of human-shaped shadows, or one is dragged off by wispy, black screaming smoke.

CHRISTMAS IN THE LUTHERAN TRADITION: A WORSHIP SERVICE OF MUSIC AND THE WORD By Brian E. White Liberty University A MASTER’S THESIS PRESENTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF ARTS IN MUSIC AND WORSHIP Liberty University December, 2020 CHRISTMAS IN THE LUTHERAN TRADITION: A WORSHIP SERVICE OF MUSIC AND THE WORD by Brian E. White A Thesis Presented in Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Degree Master of Arts in Music and Worship Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA December, 2020 APPROVED BY: Dr Keith A Currie, Ed D, Committee Chair Dr David Hahn, DMA, Reader Dr Sean Beavers, PhD, Dean of the School of Music Online ABSTRACT Christmas in the Lutheran Tradition is a worship ministry project originally designed to fulfill the desire for a Christmas Cantata with a focus on the Lutheran love of music as part of worship service. The thesis includes discussions about the early origins of the Christmas celebration and Martin Luther’s incorporation of congregational singing as part of worship service. The thesis details the author’s original concept and the multiple alterations that became necessary as the community, state and nation continued to struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic in the year 2020.
