Quickly identifying a single frog species from over a hundred other possible species can be a challenge for research while in the Costa Rican jungle. Though researchers can use field guides to assist, these still mean you may have look through all currently identified frog species to find the frog being viewed. This project was created to help researchers narrow the list of possible frog species quickly based on Geolocation. Using Xamarin.Forms, an app was developed that worked offline, used an ArcGIS API and was cross platform. However, to ensure performs and accuracy certain design choices were made for designing the ArcGIS map that was used within the app. The used geospatial data for the frog species and generalized it into a hexagonal pattern. -

Notes on the Natural History of Three Glass Frogs Species (Anura: Centrolenidae) from the Andean Central Cordillera of Colombia*
BOLETÍN CIENTÍFICO ISSN 0123 - 3068 bol.cient.mus.hist.nat. 17 (2), julio - diciembre, 2013. 127 - 140 CENTRO DE MUSEOS MUSEO DE HISTORIA NATURAL NOTES ON THE NATURAL HISTORY OF THREE GLASS FROGS SPECIES (ANURA: CENTROLENIDAE) FROM THE ANDEAN CENTRAL CORDILLERA OF COLOMBIA* Julián Andrés Rojas-Morales1*;and Sergio Escobar-Lasso2 Abstract Between October 2008 and December 2010, we carried out surveys in different creeks at north of the municipality of Manizales in the Colombian Central Cordillera, in order to make observations on the natural history of three glass frogs species (Centrolene quindianum, Nymphargus grandisonae and N. spilotus). Centrolene quindianum presents clutches with 33–35 eggs (N= 2) located on the Upper of leaves at heights between 40–200 cm above water; one male was observed close to three egg-masses (< 1 m of distance of them in the same perch), suggesting the possibility of parental care. The spider Patrera armata (Anyphaenidae) is reported as a predator of the embryos of this species. In N. grandisonae both calling and oviposition occurs in the upper surfaces of large leaves, especially Araceas and Heliconias. These breeding sites are guarded territories by males for periods of up to six months. Their egg-masses have an average of 74 eggs (N = 4), located at a height and a distance from the edge of creeks between 57–218 cm (X = 113.21 ± 45.73 cm, N = 14) and 0–35 cm (X = 15.8 ± 6.7 cm, N = 14), respectively; males stay close to egg masses as they continue calling to attract females. In addition, we report for first timefly larvae (Drosophylidae) as parasitoid agent foregg-masses of N.grandisonae. -

However, the life history of Andean species is still poorly known. Editor Asociado: A. S. Quinteros Apparently, these species are tolerant to anthropic habitats. The objective of this study is to describe some aspects of the biology of one species of this family, Riama striata, in a highly urbanized locality in the Eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. I describe microhabitat doi: 10.31017/CdH.2020.(2019-022) use, shelter preference, activity patterns, population structure and sexual dimorphism of the species. Riama striata uses both artificial and natural substrates that are mainly microhabitats of rock or concrete, and males prefer bricks even though this is the least frequent refuge available. The species has a bimodal diurnal activity, particularly on sunny days. It is sexually dimorphic in the size of the head; males have larger heads. There is a high abundance of individuals, with a greater number of females and juveniles than males. These results, together with those of other Andean species contrast sharply with the studies in gymnophthalmids and alopoglosids of the lowlands and raise new hypotheses about the ecology and life history of these lizards and how they respond to the effects of anthropic impact. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract We evaluate the monophyly and phylogenetic relationships of the Pristimantis leptolophus species group and describe its external morphology, osteology, and some myological characteristics. We also compare the P. leptolophus species group to other related species groups. The P. leptolophus group is not monophyletic due to the inclusion of P. acatallelus, for- merly believed to be part of the P. devillei group. The revised P. leptolophus group is composed of nine named species and six unnamed species. Based on our results, we recognize a new species group, the P. boulengeri species group, com- posed of eight species, many of which were previously assigned to the P. lacrimosus species group. Resumen La frecuencia cardíaca y la frecuencia de muda son dos variables fundamentales para la determinación del estado fisiológico de un animal, en especial ante los cambios ambientales que afectan su temperatura corporal. Debido a la poca información sobre estos dos parámetros fisiológicos en ecotermos, el objetivo de este trabajo fue reportarlos en las lagartijas Anolis huilae y A. tolimensis en tres temperaturas diferentes bajo condiciones de laboratorio, y establecer su sensibilidad térmica. Las temperaturas fueron 15, 20 y 25 °C para A. huilae, y 17, 22 y 27 °C para A. tolimensis, seleccionadas con base en las de las localidades donde viven en el departamento del Tolima: Juntas (A. huilae) y Llanitos (A. tolimensis).
