Section 1 provides an overview of the Department and highlights of the year. Section 2 documents achievements under our output group framework and reports on organisational development. During the year the Department consolidated the process of change begun last year to enable us, as Victoria’s lead economic development agency, to help deliver on the Government’s policy agenda and priorities for growing the whole of the State. We have substantially increased our focus on innovation and growing Victoria’s knowledge base as the basis for global competitiveness, and on supporting networks and infrastructure to grow regional Victoria. We have sought to integrate our operating divisions more closely and to enhance cooperation and partnership across DSRD, with other agencies and with the community. Our aim has been to enhance ease of access to DSRD’s advice and services, increase our reach into and value to business and the wider community, and to be a leader in joined up government. I would like to thank all Departmental staff for their outstanding contribution to our performance in 2000-2001, and for their willingness to embrace the changes we needed to make to the way we work so that we can continue to build on our solid record of success.
