In the year 2017, the population of the city was 285,154 and ranked at the 70th position in the most populous municipality in the nation. It is the main rail, shipping and air hub of the nation. It is one of the ancient cities in the states of America which has been settled by Puritans in the year 1666 (Stein, Samuel and Oksana Mironova, 1- 14). Passaic River starts from the city and river has made the water site of the city as a major portion of the New Jersey Port. In the United States, the first commercial airport was established at Newark Liberty. The Census Bureau of the United States of America reported that the Newark covers the area of 26.107 square miles totally. Out of which 1.920 square miles are the portion of water and the rest of the portion which is 24.187 squares miles is land (Stein, Samuel and Oksana Mironova, 1-14). This land area makes New Jersey 3rd smallest city amongst the 100 cities with a huge population in the United States. The altitude of the city has a range of 0 to 70 m or230 feet from sea level. It also has neighborhood characters which are ranging from the busy urban areas to the moderately suburban regions. The Branch Brook Park of the Newark city is the most ancient park in the U.S. This park is home to the largest number of trees of cherry blossom with 5,000 in numbers. The Newark city was established in the year 1666 by Connecticut Puritans. Robert Treat led the settlement and he belongs to New Heaven.
