The easiest thing would be to thank all the many people that have been contacted during the researching of this history. There has been nothing but cooperation from everyone, for which I am really thankful. However there are a few people who must be given special thanks for their help, patience and forbearance. The first of these must be my wife Katheleen who racked her brains remembering all she could about her family, while digging out all her old photographs and letters. She also listened patiently to my endless theories, hopes, successes and failures, besides searching records in Alberta, Ontario and Ireland Archives and tramping through numerous cemetaries in these same areas. Without her the task would have been considerably harder. The same can be said, in varying degrees, to her family from whom I continually requested information and pictures. Mabel M "Wright" Duncan who wrote "The Duncans of Bethel" must be commended for the work she put into the book, while her niece Margaret Elizabeth Duncan, of Edmonton is thanked for introducing me to it. While on the subject of books Patricia Harts "Pioneering in North York", is a must to anyone who is researching that area.

Operational and Policy Governance are clearly understood. The Board of Directors and Members have adapted well. Again, I stress how pleased I am to work with a team striving to improve our organization and game. The Board recognizes that hockey is a passion with high expectations from our country. The mandatory Initiation Program is experiencing some concern in a few areas; however, I have been impressed with the progress and attitude of the Members actively involved in promoting the value of this program. It is pleasant to receive compliments supporting the Board for this initiative. It is difficult to be critical of a program that works on improvement and develops skills as well as incorporating fun in the game.

  • LAC ST. LOUIS ELITES 2009-2010 Program Overview
LAC ST. LOUIS ELITES 2009-2010 Program Overview Please find the Elites Program for 2009-2010 outlined below. This program has been developed in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the Hockey Feminin Commission, Lac St Louis’s Conseil Administratif, the Lac St Louis Girls Hockey Development Model and the ever changing environment that is girls hockey. As is the case with the Selects, our team is open to all girls throughout the Lac St. Louis region with the emphasis on the traditional evening practices in combination with an off ice program. We anticipate that we will have at our disposal improved practice times with greater frequency. We will be offering a highly competitive program to continue to develop all aspects of the girls in our program. Teams will be Peewee (1997-98), Bantam (1995-96) and Midget (1992-94). We are continuing and enhancing our on ice mentoring as well we are supplementing this with a comprehensive off ice strength and conditioning program. The strength and conditioning program will be conducted by Yves Ethier at his facility located at Complexe St. Raphael (IleBizard) under the supervision of our technical director. This program will be consistent with the objectives as set out by Hockey Quebec / Canada’s Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD). Our program will be conducting primarily evening practices at least 2 times per week as well as one off ice session per week. Games to be played mostly on weekends (24 game schedule). We will be playing in the LIRF (Ligue Inter Regional Feminin), we have made a request to the league to establish two divisions in order to reduce travel.

It has long been a goal of mine to pursue a degree beyond the undergraduate level, and the vision several individuals entertained were instrumental in assisting me in achieving my goal. I would first like to thank my supervisor, Dr. Eric MacIntosh for his patience and continued support throughout the journey. As a new researcher, I would have never found my way if it were not for your guidance and feedback. You introduced me to and educated me on the way of research and for that, I will forever be thankful. To my classmates, lab mates, and faculty at the University of Ottawa, thank you for educating and advising me throughout my studies. Your support and willingness to share your insights provided me with tools critical to complete my degree. Your knowledge, encouragement, wisdom, and instruction further provided me with the education necessary in completing my dissertation. Finally, I wish to thank my parents for their endless support in my pursuit of my goal. Thank you for making my vision come to life.
