2. Chinese Clothes 2.1 Chinese male collar shirt: Tangzhuang (Chinese collar shirt) Chinese collar shirt was called “Tangzhuang” in Chinese language. The overseas Chinese people were called “Tang People” as it was the name given by Tang Dynasty, the dynasty that Chinese people were proud of since ancient time. The Chinese collar shirt was adjusted from a male jacket in the late of Qing Dynasty. Tangzhuang or Chinese collar shirt has four distinctive characteristics as follows; 1) The front opening shirt has the stand-up collar style. 2) The sleeves and the body part of the shirt are made of one piece of cloth. So, there is no seam between the sleeves and the body part of the shirt. 3) The shirt placket is straight or oblique. 4) The buttons of the shirt is Chinese frog buttons. In the past, Chinese men and women wore Chinese collar shirt with long sleeves The stand-up collar shirt is not quite popular among Chinese men at the present as they prefer the front opening shirt. Moreover, there are other distinctive characteristics for example colorful embroidered silk or satin. The popular fabric has various colors mostly blight red and dark red, reddish-brown, blue sapphire, bright golden yellow, emerald (bright green color), black and golden. 2.2 Chinese Women Dress: Qi pao Qipao was adapted from the costume of Manchu women or the people from Eight Banner System, the military divisions under the Qing dynasty.Qipao is the combination of various Chinese ethnic groups and it is considered as one of cultural heritage of Chinese garments. It is a sewing work that combines many arts together such as the art of embroidering cloth in the pattern of flowers and birds which reflects the cultural identity of China. At the present, Qipao is not used in daily life. It is mostly worn in Chinese traditions by Chinese people or Thai-Chinese descents. 2.3 Fabric From the past to present, there are two types of fabric that are popular among Chinese people. The first one is Chinese charmeuse fabric and the second one is Chinese silk fabric. Chinese silk is importantly characterized by patterns and almost a hundred bright colors. The silk can be used to make Qipao, shirts and to decorate shirts or various handicrafts. Example of Chinese Silk’s Pattern .
