Junior Faculty

DALE POPE - Lyrical Dale is choreographer to Bindi Irwin, choreographing Bindi and the Crocmen DVDs and more recently Bindi and the Jungle Girls. Dale also choreographs for the Australian Girls’ Choir (of Qantas Ad fame) and has toured internationally 5 times with her work being seen in New York, LA, Paris, , Rome, Prague and at the Sydney Opera House too. Choreography for live, film and TV includes: Oprah Winfrey Ultimate Adventure Down Under, ABCs Dance Academy Series 2, Cadbury Bubbly, Smarties (8 Colours of Fun), Australian Dance Festival, along with advising on numerous print shoots. Dale is Founder and Director of REDed (Raw Energy Dance Education) delivering premier educational dance programs to primary and high schools across NSW and is currently producing the RED Dance DVD Series. The REDed program was released in the USA in Jan 2013.

GINA BRESCIANINI – Ballet Barre Gina was born in Sydney and trained at the McDonald College and the Australian Ballet School. She joined the Australian Ballet in 2001, was promoted to Choryphee in 2005 and to Soloist in 2007. During her ten years with the Australian Ballet, Gina has performed all the major classic ballets and many One Act and Contemporary works by Australia’s leading and international choreographers such as Murphy, Page, Baynes, McGregor, Ratmansky, Wright, Fonte and Wheeldon. Gina has also appeared as a Principal Guest artist with the English National ballet in 2009 in their London and seasons. Gina also guested in the Fall for Dance season in New York in 2009. Gina has performed on many international stages in Paris, London, Barcelona, New York, Cardiff, , Shanghai, Tokyo and Nagoya. Gina was awarded the Telstra Young Ballet Dancer of the year in 2006.

SHELLEY MOORE - Contemporary Shelley is trained in Classical Ballet (RAD Adv 2), Contemporary, Jazz and acrobatics. She has completed two tertiary degrees - Bachelor of Arts (Media & Communications) and a Bachelor of Dance/Bachelor of Education, both from UNSW and with Distinction. Since graduating, Shelley has featured in television commercials for Samsung, KFC, Bonds and AMP, performed at numerous high profile events such as the ARIA Awards Nights and with -based contemporary dance company, Chunky Move. Shelley enjoys a wide variety of choreographic and teaching projects such as invited Choreographer for the Australian Girls Choir on their recent International Tour to Canada and the USA and delivering Contemporary workshops at National and International RAD Summer Schools. Shelley also choreographs for many competition groups and soloists across Sydney, enjoying great success at

several major eisteddfods.

LUCY WIGGAN - Modern Lucy has been training and performing since the age of 5. In 2008 Lucy was offered a scholarship to the McDonald College of Performing Arts, where she trained in all genres of dance. She then moved on to complete a full-time dance course at ED5 International. Immediately after completing full-time Lucy was offered a contract as a dancer on board the Royal Princess Cruise Ship where she spent 6 months sailing the high seas. Lucy has also had the privilege of working alongside Ramon Doringo as assistant choreographer, for events such as the Sydney International Boat Show and Sydney Dance Company Annual Fundraiser 2011. For the past year Lucy has been touring Australia with the Wiggles in the Dorothy the Dinosaur Show as a wiggly dancer and also had the privilege of joining the Wiggles as a dancer for their farewell celebration tour.

Senior Faculty

SARAH BOULTER – Contemporary Sarah Boulter has become a household name through her spellbinding contemporary choreography for the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” in Australia and the UK. Sarah started working professionally at age 16 with Darc Swan, a contemporary company based in Sydney. She then went on to spend two years living in Las Vegas where she had the amazing opportunity of working in the “Celine Dion show” “A New Day with great names such as Mia Michaels and Franco Dragone. Sarah has performed in the hit musical Notre Dame de Paris in Europe, the Edinburgh Festival, The Royal Variety Performance and the Queen’s 50th Jubilee celebration in London. Recent choreographic credits included the opening ceremony of the 2011 Arab Games (David Atkins Enterprises), Dance Academy, ABC and Puberty Blues, Channel 10. Sarah is the director of Ev & Bow, a full-time contemporary dance course.

LOREDO MALCOLM - Lyrical Loredo Malcolm started training at the age of nine at Ashe Caribbean Performing Arts in Jamaica. He moved to New York to pursue further training, graduating with a Certificate in Dance and Performing Arts. Loredo then understudied the role of Simba in Disney's The Lion King for four years touring Australia, Shanghai, and London's West End. In 2009 Loredo made it into the Top 9 dancers on Channel 10’s, So You Think You Can Dance. Following this, Loredo joined the cast of Chicago The Musical, playing the Spirit of Bob Fosse and travelled to Singapore and then Hong Kong. Loredo also performed with Hairspray The Musical as an ensemble dancer and understudy to Seaweed. He then went on to tour with the Australian production of Wicked the Musical. Loredo also has his own Contemporary Company LOcREaDO Dance Company which performs in venues such as NIDA and Theatre Works, Melbourne.

JASON WINTERS - Lyrical Jason trained with a full scholarship at Southern Ballet Theater and The Demetrius Klein Dance Ensemble training in Graham, Limon, Horton, and Cunningham Techniques. Jason gained an apprenticeship with The DK Modern Dance Company in South Florida and then moved to the corps de ballet, and eventually a soloist position with SBT in Orlando, Florida. After three years as a professional in the ballet world, Jason embarked on a 10 year relationship with The Walt Disney World Company in Orlando, Florida and Tokyo Disneyland, Japan. He was a dancer/principal in 9 full-length shows including Beauty & the Beast and Lion King. He was choreographer/dancer in the dance company of acclaimed choreographer MIA MICHAELS and continued to assist Mia Michaels on many global projects including “So You Think You Can Dance” America & Canada, and the renowned Cirque de Soleil’s “DELIRIUM”. Jason has taught masterclasses at Broadway Dance Centre, Steps and the Joffrey Ballet School in

New York.

SALLY HARE – Contemporary Sally is a busy commercial dancer in Sydney. Her TV appearances include three seasons of The X-Factor choreographed by The Squared Division and Jesse Rasmussen; Australia’s Got Talent choreographed by Simon Lind; Australia’s Next Top Model Grand Finale choreographed by Marko Panzic; The AACTA’s choreographed by Jason Gilkinson; So You Think You Can Dance choreographed by Kelley Abbey and The Voice choreographed by Matt Lee. Sally has danced for Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem, Olivia Newton John, Samantha Jade, Timomatic and RnB artist Israel. Sally recently appeared in Opera Australia’s Carmen on Sydney Harbour directed by Gail Edwards with choreography by Kelley Abbey. She has previously worked with her idol Kelley Abbey in theatre productions such as Fame the Musical and My Mutation at the Sydney Opera House, as well as the Australian musical film “Goddess”.

AGE GROUPS & LEVELS Please book in according to your age group. All groups are for experienced dancers.

WHAT DO I WEAR AND WHAT SHOES SHOULD I BRING WITH ME? The dress code is not strict. Please wear casual dance wear, something that you already have and feel comfortable in eg. Lycra dance tights & top, leotard & tights with skirt or shorts over the top, track pants and t-shirt/singlet top. Please bring your jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Ballet flats, bare feet or cotton socks for Lyrical & Contemporary.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING? Some suggestions of things to put in your sports bag: a bottle of drinking water, tissues, autograph book, hair elastics, bandaids, a notebook and pencil, lunch or lunch money, snacks to keep your energy up.

FOOD / SNACKS There is a café next to our studios that sells water, soft drinks, juice, lights meals, hot chips, sandwiches & rolls, coffee, hot chocolate, cakes and biscuits etc. Otherwise please bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks. Students with any allergy should take their own appropriate precautions. There is a commercial café at the front of the studio venue. We cannot monitor what students may eat or purchase from the café.

VALUABLES AND LOST PROPERTY Take your bags and valuables into the studio with you or leave them with your parent. Please remember to take everything with you after class as Sydney Dance Company cannot take responsibility for loss of items.

FACILITIES There are boys and girls toilets, change rooms and showers at the end of the hall opposite the studios.

WARMING UP Please be on time for the first class as it is important to warm up properly to avoid injury.

CLASS BEHAVIOUR It is important students are respectful towards teachers and comply with any requests made by the teacher, as the well-being of the entire class is the teachers’ responsibility.

MOBILE PHONES All mobile phones must be turned off prior to commencement of the class.

STAFF SUPERVISION Students will be supervised by our Teachers and Room Monitors at all times and also during meal breaks. Please ensure that students are collected on time after the final class at 4pm. Supervision will end 20 minutes after the final class and Sydney Dance Company cannot be responsible for students after this time. If you are running late please call our office on 92584818.

CHILD SAFETY CHECK All Teachers and Room Monitors at Sydney Dance Company have undergone “the working with children check” screening and are aware of their obligations under the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998.
