First Words Indigenous knowledge, a solution for compatibility with environmental threats Indigenous knowledge is a part of each nation’s capital that consists of their local beliefs, methods, tools and information.Through this knowledge, various nations have sought their livelihood from their environment during several centuries (Emadi & Abbasi, 1999). Agriculture & livestock knowledge, is a knowledge that is experienced by farmers and ranchmen and transfer it to other generations. History shows that indigenous agriculture knowledge will be removed gradually and the rest is experimented. Such knowledge includes the smart and precise observations on plants, animals, climate, soil, pests and classified systems that are fully compatible with local conditions. One of the requirements of indigenous knowledge is new limitation and failure. The failures are happened due to different reasons including lack of indigenous knowledge and experience. This inattention may be derived from social factors as proud of holders of new knowledge against holders of indigenous knowledge or imagination of new knowledge holders from indigenous knowledge as one that belongs to the ancients. The characteristics of indigenous knowledge for sustainable development are as follow: compatibility with plenty of work force and low demand of capital, dynamism, local full adaptability, accepting the various productive systems, emphasis on conservation of resources and avoiding risk, logical decision making, flexible strategies for emergency cases ( drought & famine) simple,innovative and intelligent agriculture system that is proper for simultaneous cultivation of several products, complete combination of productive methods with social bodies, flexibility & capability of high entrepreneurship.(Emadi & Abbasi, 1999). The most important applicable fields of indigenous knowledge against environmental threats due to climate change and inappropriate management with ecological capacities are : 1. Conservation of natural resources is our traditional honor. Traditional methods like common range management will be the proper method for comprehensive management of watershed areas. 2. Active collaboration of the operators in decision making, planning, executing & monitoring and evaluation on the basis of indigenous knowledge & environmental recognition, is the sponsor of achieving the land sustainable development indicators, e.g. in the past that nomads territory was recognized as a territory under public management, while migrating, they paid attention to range reclamation through seeding with efficient methods and they conserved the land for the next year. 3. The modern knowledge in combination with indigenous knowledge can be more efficient. Traditional systems for rain water extraction and logical use of water in Hormozgan, Golestan, Yazd shows the high potential of traditional knowledge in land management. But lack of attention and emphasis on the modern knowledge as movement of construction of dams in the world and Iran, indicated how a land can be faced down a serious challenge while it had conserved its indigenous knowledge for several centuries. 4. The people can express the real problems relying on indigenous knowledge and organize the priorities based on real needs of a watershed area. Implementation of the project for repairing & dredging Amidabad aqueduct with partnership of local communities

For the purpose of the second achievement of Hableh Roud project and promoting the condition of land & water resources management, and controlling the lands destruction through partnership processes, an agreement was concluded between Semnan watershed management and natural resources office and Qomes green village cooperative with subject matter of collaborative implementation of repairing the aqueduct in Amidabad of Laasjerd (Sorkheh City). It should be noted that after visiting and expert studies in several aqueducts in desert and low water regions, Amidabad was selected as pilot and the operations were implemented with collaboration of Hableh Roud project & local communities. Amidabad aqueduct with the length of 2500 m is located in Sorkheh city in the same region. After dredging and repairing the aqueducts, increase of water debi to 3 times provide the proper conditions for agriculture in the abandoned lands.

Mr.Karami, Sorkheh governor while visiting the executive process of Hableh Roud project, emphasized on inter-organizational solidarity and stated that the implementation of the next phases of sample water village requires the collaboration of executive bodies. In order to make intersection co-ordinations, some explanations were presented on better implementation of sample water village project as pilot and it was emphasized on the necessity of cooperation and providing technical and expert assistance of executive bodies in this project. It should be mentioned that considering the sharp drop in underground water level and replacing the traditional irrigation systems (aqueducts) by modern systems (wells) and its high costs, maintenance and repairing the wells that had negative effects on the income of the families, performing the collaborative project of sample water village will result in the improvement of the living of local communities and finally providing the arrangements for increasing products and annual income of the operators, the proper conditions will also be made for returning the immigrants to the villages and reduction of the rate of immigration to cities for earning money. The project of sample water village in Asadabad, located in west 10th km of Sorkheh, is ready to perform and will cover about 200 Acres of the agricultural lands. In the first phase of the project, a 1200m concrete channel water is constructed with collaboration of local communities.

The coordination meeting of Hableh Roud work plan in Aradan was held with the presence of Mr.Afshar Naderi governor, the director of Jihad-e-agriculture of Aradan and the members of Hableh Roud executive team in Aradan governorship. For the purpose of evaluating the executive process of sustainable agriculture development project by IPCM strategy, a meeting was held on 19/10/2014 with the presence of the agriculture work group members. In this neeting the status of the project in Tehran, the problems and obstacles were studied and Mr.Sharifi Moghadam the project consultant reported the execution process of IPCM plan and the reasons for its inefficiency, the obstacles and defects. One of the proceedings of Hableh Roud project in 2014 is to prepare a complete list of executive projects with their specifications. A full list of the projects with some information like province, city, sub-region, village, place, volume/level, the number of operators, the first and last year, the amount of credit and the percent of public partnership with assistance of executive team in Tehran & Semnan.The map of executive projects was prepared in three topics of water management, land management and socio-economic issues based on the mentioned information and it was put at disposal of those who are interested in. Based on the information, 157 executive projects were implemented in Semnan province, and villages of Behvard, Ghiasabad, Karous,Chandab, Dehsoltan, Sarouzan, emamzadehAbdollah, Lasjerd, Abdolabad, Rameh, Joveyn,Eij & Ashni, Farvan, Mohammadabad and in the regions of Abbasabad, Ouzdarreh, Sinakchaal and Eyvankey, and 54 executive projects are implemented in Tehran province in the villages of Aro, Dehnar, Havir, Mashad, Jaban, Lazour, Hesarbon, Taroud and Anzaha, the full list of the projects with their specifications is presented in the appendix.

In order to enjoy the valuable experiences of Ms.Rameh, 18/11/2014.She attended in a meeting that was held with managing director of Rameh cooperative, she has been presence of governor, the heads of the offices and CBOs invited by Mr.Ghazi governor of Miami to go there on and cooperatives of Miami.

In this meeting, she presented the full descriptions on holding the workshops for empowerment of the women, the condition of establishment of the CBO, its proceedings and sustainable living. She referred to traditional texture of Miami and said that paying attention to handicrafts is the main factor of tourism improvement in this city. She declared her readiness to help the women for establishment of the cooperative. It should be mentioned that sustainable management of land & water resources project (Hableh Roud) joint with UNDP has been the founder of Rameh women rural cooperation in 1997.

Participation of Rameh women rural cooperation in the first exhibition of Quran fruits

The Quran fruits exhibition introducing medicinal plants, healthy food products and traditional medicine products was held for the first time in Eram Park from 10/11/2014 until 21/11/2014. Amendment of the wrong styles of feeding with the approach of Iranian-Islamic medicine – promotion and teaching the consumption of healthy and natural products – educational and cultural modeling on medicinal effects of Quran fruits were the aims of this exhibition. In this exhibition that was held with more than 100 stalls including pomegranate, olive, date,grape, participated by direct offer of Honey that is one of the figs and handicrafts, Rameh women cooperative products of Rameh cooperative.

For the purpose of changing the planting method, the farm of Saffron of Mr.Aboli, Abdolabad was visited. Mr.Rahaei head of Aradan natural resources and watershed management office expressed that considering the dry and semi dry climate of Aradan and shortage of water resources, the change in planting method is main solution for amending the water consumption Change of planting method, the model in agriculture part and water as one of the limitative basic solution for amendment of factors of production, has the main role in identifying the Water consumption method kinds of cultivation. Vulnerability of underground aquifers due to irregular exploitation of water resources, finishing the developed potential, using the underground waters for agriculture and low efficiency of irrigation, has made necessary the amendment in water consumption model. 14 Fall 2014 Quarterly Newsletter No.25

During the visit, Mr.Aboli stated that in the year 2011, the rate of harvest in the second year was 3kg and 3600m of the lands was allocated for Saffron cultivation; reminded that Saffron needs 3 times irrigation per year.

Readiness of water resources office of Aradan for cooperation with Hableh Roud for managing the water exploitation

The coordination meeting of Hableh Roud work plan was held on 29/10/2014 with the presence of Mr Taheri governor of Garmsaar, Mr.Jazi national executive director of the project, Mr.Jourablou head of water resources office of the Garmsaar and Mr. Nocheh provincial executive director of the project. Mr.Jourablou referring to the rate of raining, recent drought and loss of agriculture water said that over 110 villages in Aradan & Garmsaar that their water is supplied by Hableh Roud river, announced their readiness to cooperate with the harvest management. Mr.Taheri proposed the change in cultivation model considering the existing shortage of water and said that one of the important missions of Hableh Roud is justice in water distribution from upper parts to lower parts.
