• Premier of Alberta Letter
Recipient: Premier of Alberta Letter: Greetings, [email protected] Dear Premier: Please call a judicial inquiry to examine all the issues and claims related to the High River forced entries, unwarranted searches, seizures of private property and damages caused to High River homes by police overreach and bureaucratic mistakes during the flood of 2013. A telephone poll taken after the RCMP Complaints Commission's High River report was released, showed that sixty-seven percent of the people in High River thought the RCMP's actions were not "appropriate" contrary to the report's findings. Fifty- three percent of High River residents polled last August indicated they would be prepared to refuse an evacuation order in the event of another emergency. A judicial inquiry is needed to fully restore the trust of the residents of High River and to reassure all Canadians that their rights and their homes will be protected in any future emergency. Lack of a full scale judicial examination of the events in High River casts a negative shadow on the many thousands of dedicated RCMP members who serve and protect us and maintain our rights every day in thousands of communities all across Canada. We look forward to your response. Sincerely, Dennis R. • •2011 CJFL Record Book Final:2007 Record Book
…Introduction This edition of our Record Book includes some new material and recent research. First, we had an opportunity to obtain the original game sheets from former PJFC Chief Statistician Darly Slade. These sheets are from 1976 to 1982 and provide us with a hugh catalogue of lost information. Included in the Prairie papers were copies of weekly stats releases from the BC, Manitoba and Ontario Conferences. In particular there was a 1978 letter from former OFC Chief Statistician Lloyd Norton regarding the suspension of the Etobicoke-Lakeshore Bears by President Paul Teolis. In researching this matter we also found that Scarboro Rams ceased operations for the season some 10 days later and that both teams were missing in previous OFC final standings. This has been updated. Also, we have learned from Paul Shortt that the 1978 BC league had similar issues in 1978. North Shore Cougars failed to field a team and Vancouver Blue Bombers folded after just two games. More detailed information can be found in the 1978 Milestone section. Secondly, more newspaper articles became available for the Eastern teams of 1904 to 1913, the Manitoba juniors of 1912 & 1913, the Western Groups of the 1927 Jr ORFU, as well as the 1949 and 1970 Jr ORFU. These team standings have been update. New research information on the actual organization structure of both the ORFU and the QRFU have required us to refer to them as the Junior ORFU or QRFU per say rather than the ORFU- QRFU Juniors. The Eastern team standings are updated on this change.
