Notes on South-East Asian Limacodidae (Lepidoptera, Zygaenoidea) with one new genus and eleven new species Alexey V. Solovyev Eleven new species of Limacodidae from South-East Asia are described here as new: Barisania honeyi sp. n. from central Myanmar, northern and central Vietnam and central Thailand, Pseudaltha eboris sp. n., from northern Thailand, P. sapa sp. n., from northern Vietnam and northern Thailand, Austrapoda seres sp. n. from China (Chekiang and Shaanxi), Euphlyctinides indi sp. n. from India, E. aeneola sp. n. from northern and western Thailand, Pseudonagoda siniaevi sp. n. from southern Andaman, Atosioides accola sp. n. from western Sumatra and southern Thailand, Pseudidonauton siamica sp. n. from northern Thailand and central Vietnam, P. chihpyh sp. n. from Taiwan and P. vexa sp. n. from central Vietnam and south- eastern Thailand. The genus Atosioides Solovyev is erected here with type-species Atosia rochei Holloway, 1986. Brief morphological reviews of all examined genera are given. All diagnostic features are illustrated. Abstract. Type material of the Lepidoptera and Trichoptera collections housed at the Zoologisches Forschungsmuseum Alexander Koenig (ZFMK) is compiled and recorded. Types of the rather small collection of Trichoptera are listed com- pletely, the list of the large collection of Lepidoptera is still in progress. The present catalogue covers the Tineidae, the 'zygaenoid* families Limacodidae and Zygaenidae, the 'bombycoid' families Brahmaeidae, Eupterotidae, Lasiocampi- dae, Mirinidae, Saturniidae and Sphingidae, the 'noctuoid' families Arctiidae, Lymantriidae, Noctuidae and Notodonti- dae, and the Drepanoidea (Drepanidae, including Drepaninae and Thyatirinae). The vast majority of types has been des- ignated out of the Hone collection from China. The families treated so far contain 749 holotypes, 42 lectotypes and three neotypes. 257 species are represented by syntypes. Numbers of paratypes and paralectotypes have not been counted sep- arately for this catalogue, but are much higher. Key words. -

Usu, Hokkaido, northern Japan. Air temperature seemed to be one of the crucial factors controlling their fiight activity, because the number of flying moths rapidly declined at about 100C or less in the autumn and at about 50C or less in early winter. The flight activity of many specles could be grouped into five types on the basis ef full-fiight time: pre-midnight, midnight, post-midnlght, bimodal, and peakless types, though some species showed seasonally or sexually different flight patterns. Although congeneric species tended to have similar flight patterns, the flight activity within each family was not always homogenous. As suggested by Miyata (1983) concerning the moths on Kyushu Island, southern Japan, the ratio of bimodal and peakless types was higher in openland moths than in forest ones. -

The relationship between species richness of plants and animals and altitude can be either hump-shaped, a monotonic decrease or increase. In this study the altitudinal distribution of moths on one of the highest mountains in South Korea was investi- gated. Moths were captured using a UV-light trap from May to October in 2007 and 2008. This revealed that the relationship between the total numbers of moth species and individuals and altitude is hump-shaped. A significant relationship was also recorded between the size of the area at each altitude and moth abundance and richness. However, the evenness index yielded a consistent decrease with increase in altitude because of the dominance of few species at high altitudes. Non-metric multidimensional scaling identified two major axes for the moth assemblage on Mount Jirisan. The correlations between the axes and variables demonstrated that the first axis was strongly correlated with altitude and aspect and the second axis with forest and site location.
