Firstly thank you for extending the consultation period for and allowing us to submit these comments as a response.

Further to our recent discussions with local councillors & community representatives from New Addington, council officers and Youssef Cockbaine from TfL we would like to comment on the following bus routes that are of interest to Croydon residents and are subject to review: We will also be meeting with councillors & representatives and Youssef on 9th November to discuss in detail the routes that affect their area but have included our initial observations.

By Route Number

60 This is an important route for the area. It serves the Coulsdon College and it is the only bus that directly serves Croydon University (Mayday) Hospital. The basic timetable is very good and it interworks well with route N68. However, we continue to be concerned about its unreliability and the turning of buses in xxxxxx and Coulsdon that never reach Old Coulsdon. After Coulsdon South station on route 60 there is no alternative bus. We would like to see measures that improve its reliability and the southern end of the route protected.

127 We believe that since taking over this route MetroBus has improved it and run it very well and this should be taken into consideration when retendering. This is a good route, especially for school children and provides one of the only direct links to an underground station from our area. If possible we would like to see the route extended to St Georges Hospital especially as some services from Croydon University Hospital are being transferred there. We would also like to see better integration of the timetable with route 463 in the evenings and on Sundays in Woodcote Road Wallington. We would also like to see a stop in xxxxxx near the hospital.

166 This is a good route and was much improved when it was extended to Banstead. The hourly bus extended to Epsom Hospital is very helpful for people who need to get to Epsom and the hospital from the Coulsdon area. We would not suggest any changes to the route or timetable.

T32 The existing route is very circuitous to and from passenger objectives. Two possible changes would improve loadings. 1. To route T32 via homestead Way rather than Arnham Drive 2. In addition reverse the routing of T32 after Goldcrest way to Central Parade via Gascoigne Road, Homestead Way and terminating at Vulcan Way/King Henry’s Drive 3. Merge this route 359 to provide an all day service to Monks Hill estate and link better with Selsdon and the tram at Addington Village. Also could we confirm what the BODS data is for this route and look at the timings in relation to the 314 service?

Route 404 Epsom buses and their drivers have run this route extremely well; This should be taken into consideration when retendering.

Our only suggestions are to divert 404 in Old Coulsdon from Keston Avenue to run via Crossways, Tollers Lane, Coulsdon Road, Taunton Lane and the Glade picking up the existing route at Keston Avenue. In Caterham the route would be shortened to terminate at Caterham Village by the Tesco store. The mileage is almost the same and would add no running time and it still serves all the important passenger objectives of Coulsdon Town Centre, Coulsdon South stations, the Schools and Tesco store in Caterham. No links would be lost as interchange is still possible with all Caterham bus routes 409 & 509 in Coulsdon Road Caterham. It also improves connections with route 466 in Coulsdon Road. It would benefit people on the Tollers estate by halving the distance to the nearest bus stops and it would provide a bus service to Sheltered accommodation in Tollers Lane and the elderly peoples bungalows in Curling Close. Additionally the service would be improved if the frequency was increased to two per hour, at least one of them serving the Tollers Estate.

405 We believe that since taking over this route MetroBus has improved it run very well and this should be taken into consideration when retendering. This is also an extremely good route and reliable route. The only change we would like to see is some later buses from West Croydon to Redhill. We would like to see better integration of the timetable with route 455 in Pampisford Road (this requires alteration to route 455).

412 We are pleased to hear that the proposed merger with route 302 has been scrapped.

434 This is also a good route and has been well run by Abellio. We would like to see a Sunday service and consideration to a diversion of 434 from Whyteleafe South to Upper Warlingham station and Warlingham Green. We are also of the view that this would be a suitable route to divert through the Cane Hill hospital site in Coulsdon when the new housing is developed in the near future.

466 This is an important route for the area. It serves Coulsdon College and the Oasis Academy. It is the only bus that directly serves from the south of the borough. The basic timetable is very good. However, we continue to be concerned about its unreliability and the turning of buses in xxxxxx and Old Coulsdon that never reach Caterham-on-the-Hill. After Stoats Nest Road on route 466 there is no alternative bus. We would like to see measures that improve its reliability and the southern end of the route protected.

Also, although not included in this review we would strongly recommend that route T33 is diverted via to reinstate a service from the East of the borough to Fairfield following the withdrawal of SCC/Metro bus route 409.
