In the fi rst round of the 1994 World Cup, the U.S. team tied Switzerland 1-1 then upset Colombia 2-1 at the in what was then the biggest win in U.S. soccer history. In 1989, Caligiuri, who made over 100 international appearances for Team USA, became one of the United States’ most famous players after scoring the historic goal in the CONCACAF qualifying round.
