Dunoon is very proud indeed to be hosting this First Royal National Mod of the 21 st Century and trusts that it will be a truly memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone. We are the last of the Local Committees charged with the task of total fundraising and at a target of £160,000, the highest ever. This target was not obtained without a great deal of support from many sources and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to our fundraising. I would like to acknowledge the dedication, enthusiasm and sheer hard work over the last three years put in by all the members of the Local Committee. I would like to thank all those who staffed our Mod Shop, everyone in the Community who contributed to it and of course all our customers. Together you made it a resounding financial success. I would also like to thank everyone in the Community who has supported us in many ways in the run up to the Mod and in particular our 'Friends of the Mod' Members. I would express a very sincere thanks to all our helpers during the Mod week. Success is always built round an army of willing volunteers and you are all most appreciated. Finally, may I express my thanks to our major fund contributors Argyll & Bute Council and Argyll and Isles Enterprise without whose support Dunoon could not have hosted Mod 2000. Argyll and Bute Council's readiness to commit support to us from day one was vital to our success and their continuing support in many other ways is most sincerely appreciated. May I wish everyone who attends the Royal National Mod 2000 a most enjoyable visit to Dunoon and trust that you will be encouraged to come back again. The Local Committee chairpersons and office bearers wish to thank the very many local businesses, organisations and individuals who have donated goods, services and cash over the last three years. We also thank the many individuals who have freely given of their time to attend committee meetings, organise and attend functions, Mod charity shops, stewards, etc. Without this considerable voluntary effort J:his Mod would not happen. 4 Mod Naiseanta Rioghail Dhunomhainn - 2000 Facal bhon Cheann-suidhe ‘S ann le aoibhneas a tha mi a’ cur furan oirbhse a tha air ur rathad a ghabhail gu Mod Dhiin Omhain, oir tha mi a’ cuimhneachadh cho math ‘s a chord am Mod rinn uile ann an 1994. Saoilidh mi nach eil cho fada bhon uairsin, ach tha moran air tachairt, m.e. tha companaidh a’ ruith a’ Mhoid a thaobh ionmhais, companaidh a bhuineas don Chomunn Ghaidhealach. Tha na farpaisean ura a bha againn an uiridh ‘s a’ bhon-uiridh, Oran Ur agus Seinn na Loidhne (inbhich) tarraingeach le moran. Tha Comataidh lonadail Dhim Omhain air a bhith cho trang bho chionn tri bliadhna, a’ cruinneachadh gach sgillinn air am faigheadh iad greim, a’ leigeal fhaicinn gun robh muinntir Dhun Omhain agus Chomhail air an culaibh leis gach taic. Tha sinne a tha air comataidh a’ Mhod Naiseanta fada nur comain. Sa bhliadhna araid seo, 2000, tha measgachadh de chur-seachadan gan cumail fon ainm Linn gu Linn. Bidh iad a’ tachairt aig am a’ Mhoid, agus a’ toirt cothrom do gach neach an dama cuid no a’ chuid eile a fhrithealadh gun aon a bhith a’ dol thairis air a cheile. ‘Se mo mhian gum bi seachdain chridheil, inntinneach agaibh uile.
