514-626-6240 [email protected] www.rodroy.com/staff We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic individuals to teach skiing or snowboarding for the 2016 season. Previous teaching experience is not necessary. Potential candidates should be proficient skiers or boarders with strong communication and organizational skills. Teaching positions are available from one day a week to full time basis. Weekend programs run seven weeks starting January 9th 2016. Candidates must be able to make a nine (9) week commitment to allow for possible rescheduled days. (For example, if you are hired in our Saturday program, you must be available for nine consecutive Saturdays) Candidates must attend all clinic days for their category. All Rod Roy instructors must wear the approved school jacket and pants. Successful candidates will receive a staff pass. This pass allows you discount lift ticket rates at some of our affiliated centres including: Mont Tremblant, Mont Orford, Mont Blanc and Mont Sutton. The pass will also get you equipment deals at local sport stores and distributors. Joining the Rod Roy team is an opportunity to learn and improve your own skiing or boarding, gain valuable teaching/communication experience while at the same time socializing with other instructors. CLINIC PROGRAMS Our clinics are designed to improve your skiing/snowboarding and teaching skills. There will be an evaluation of each candidate's progress over the course of the clinic. BASIC PROGRAM ADVANCED PROGRAM No instructional experience necessary One or more years of formal ski or snowboard You are taught "what to teach" & "how to teach it" teaching experience. RRSS has provided the following incentive for new instructors to see if you are suited for the job: • A refund of $30.00 will be made after the December 5th session if either party feels that the candidate's chances of being hired are minimal. ADVANCED PROGRAM The total price of the Advanced Ski & Snowboard program is $60.00. Instructors who are currently certified with the CSIA or CASI can deduct $15.00 from their course fees. (CSIA/CASI license number and expiry date must be indicated on the registration form for the deduction). All new applicants must provide us with two references. TRANSPORTATION: Candidates anticipating a transportation problem will be assisted in setting up car pools for the clinics. INSTRUCTOR JACKETS: Ski and snowboard instructors must wear our jacket (new for 2016) and provide their own black snow pants and helmet. Jacket can be rented or purchased. • Rent: Pay $70 on delivery (requires a credit card as a security deposit). The suit must be returned within 10 days of the last ski school outing in March. • Buy: Pay $70 on delivery (Visa & MasterCard are accepted). The balance owing to purchase the jacket varies according to the number of years that you will be teaching... Initial jacket Teaching Balance owing to purchase jacket payment (if you do not intend to teach the following season) 2016 $140 $70 2016‐2017 $70 2016‐2017‐2018 $0 Instructor Clinic Discount: Rod Roy Ski School is asking instructors to help themselves by creating jobs and reducing clinic costs. R.R.S.S. will pay you for each member that you recruit for the Ski School as follows: 1 member gives you $15.00; 2 members gives you $30.00; 3 members gives you $45.00 or a FREE INSTRUCTORS' CLINIC. All you have to do is call the RRSS office with the name of the potential members and you will be reimbursed for those new members that join. Candidates who know in advance that they are unable to attend one of the pre‐season sessions or miss a day during the season should attach a note explaining their situation to their registration form. One absence (without loss of bonus) will be permitted if notice is given in writing a minimum of 10 days prior to the absence. Instructors are expected to be punctual for morning clinics, lesson line‐up, staff meetings, etc. The weekly allowances are based on teaching a full lesson and completing required report cards. Instructors may have deductions if they do not meet the expected standards. Notes: 1. Experience is based on ski or snowboard teaching post Quebec high school. 2. Rod Roy Instructors in Training graduates will receive an additional $2.00 per day for the first two years of employment. 3. Current Level I instructors will receive an additional $2.00 per day. 4. Instructors coming from other schools require at least 1 reference from the previous school. 5. Transportation on the buses is not permitted so that the instructors can be available for morning clinics. 6. Instructors are paid an “expense allowance” and therefore no deductions are taken off at source. As a result instructors are not eligible for EI benefits.
