ANOC

The Executive Board of the Association of National Olympic Committees met on 7th August 1984 in Los Angeles. The President of the ANOC, Mr. Mario Vazquez Raña, greeted H. E. Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch, President of the IOC, H. E. Mr. Louis Guirandou N’Diaye, First Vice-President, and the Director of the IOC, Mrs. Monique Berlioux, who honoured the inaugural session with their presence. Following the suggestion of President Samaranch, who wished to have the opinion of the ANOC at the extraordinary Session of the IOC scheduled for the coming December regarding the problems facing Olympism, the Executive Board decided to call the Assembly General of the ANOC on 7th and 8th November 1984, in Mexico, in order to establish the common viewpoint on the present situation within the Olympic Movement and the future of the , as well as to adopt the objectives of the ANOC for the coming years. A working group, composed of representatives of the five continents, was set up, and is responsible for drawing up a basic document for reflection which will constitute the basis for discussion during the Assembly General. Its members are Messrs. Raoul Mollet for Europe, Lamine Ba for Africa, Libertario Perez for America, Anwar Chowdhry for Asia, and Julius Patching for Oceania. The treasurer, Mr. Anselmo Lopez and the Secretary General, Mr. Marian Renke will act as coordinators and will also take part in the group’s work.
