For the last 30 years under the DSS, this program has provided thousands of men and women with athletic and recreational activities as well as an opportunity to share friendships with their peers, thus heightening their physical and mental fitness. However, as of the 2009 season, the Division of Senior Services will no longer administer the Pro- gram. Senior Olympics has transferred, under the direction of Community Services Department Director Terrie Rodriguez and with extensive planning from the Senior Olympic Committee, to the City of Santa Fe Recreation Division. As a result, ongoing registration for the 2009 games will take place in their new location at Fort Marcy, 490 Washington Ave, following a registration kick-off at the M.E.G. Senior Center on January 13th. Any additional questions regarding Senior Olympics may be addressed to Terrie at 955-6568. Please refer to her article entitled “50+ Senior Olympic Update” on page 9 of this newsletter for specific information. Again, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you in past years. We wish every one of you the best in your future Senior Olympic events. We’d like to take this opportunity to extend you an invitation to attend our senior centers in 2009, if you have not done so before. Happy New Year!
