Origin of V Club Name Since the earliest of days of Villanova Athletics, the “V” has been the defining symbol of the school’s commitment to athletic excellence. Our teams still proudly display the V logo on their uniforms, thus distinguishing them from the competition. Academic Support 2009

hirty years ago Villanova University was Tone of the leaders among NCAA Division I schools in recognizing the need for providing academic support for its student-athletes. This is a University which treasures its out- standing academic reputation and is equally proud of its student-athletes who represent Villanova every year in inter-collegiate con- tests. Today, college athletes are expected to be involved in their sports and in training all year long. Time demands are extraordinary. The Office of Academic Support helps our student-athletes to manage these athletic demands without sacrificing their academic careers. At Villanova, the Office of Academic Support reports to the Aca- demic Vice-President. It works with the Athletic Department, whose directors and coaches have always understood the primacy of academ- ics. The entire university community is proud of the fact that all the student-athletes who stay at our University for their entire careers gradu- ate with as fine a degree as any in the country. The Office of Academic Support works in conjunction with the many offices of academic support on campus available to all students. Moreover, with its Freshman Mentoring Program and academic tutors, the Academic Support staff oversees the academic progress of Villanova’s student-athletes throughout the year. Villanova’s Athletic Department has never lost sight of the mission of its University.
