The Resurrection Participant’s Guide

Main Idea: Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is the foundation of the Christian faith. Without the resurrection, the belief in God's saving grace through Jesus is destroyed. When Jesus rose from the dead, he confirmed his identity as the Son of God and his work of atonement, redemption, reconciliation, and salvation. The resurrection isn’t just something Jesus did FOR US, it’s something He’s offering TO US.

Opening discussion: What are some Easter traditions that you, your family and/or others do each year?

Read: John 20:19-22

1. How did the disciples react when Jesus appeared to them?

2. In what ways is this similar to our situation today?

Pastor Justin said, “The resurrection isn’t just something Jesus did FOR US, it’s something He’s offering TO US.”

3. What does the resurrection offer us?

4. How does someone receive this new life?

Jesus offers us Life! And today, he’s walking through the walls of our homes! Where we used to leave home and “go to church”, now, church is at home and Jesus is coming to us. He’s in our midst. Instead of going to his house, He’s in our house and he’s asking us to release our fear and receive his peace. He wants to breathe His holy spirit on us and FILL us with the good things of God. He’s offering us an opportunity to join Him in the resurrection. To live a new life. But the path to resurrection is crucifixion. The road to life is death. We have to be willing to lay down our life to receive eternal life.
