Page 8 June 2019 USBC Communicator May 2019 Potluck Not a cook but want to come to the USBC POTLUCKS? Suggesons for where to shop Need ‘Ready to Go’ food? All stores listed have bakeries for desserts! Soriana: has a great deli at the back of the store, in the center. (Best Deli) Hot mains: Whole roasted chicken $98; they also have a chicken that has been split so it is flat for $94, -- easier to cut into pieces! They have chicken nuggets, tuna croquees, etc. Hot side dishes: green beans, beans, refried beans, rice, fried rice, potato wedges, French fries etc. You pay by the kilo. (2.2#=1Kg); just point to the size of the container and indicate how many containers! Salads: Potato, macaroni, coleslaw, apple, gelan etc. Walmart: They have eliminated most of their ‘Food to Go’ selecons. They sll have a hot cart close to the checkout area with whole roasted chickens $91, chicken nuggets and fried chicken. For salads/sides, they have fresh cut up fruit, in the center of the produce area. Walmart is starng to charge for parking. Calimax: (one next to Office Depot). They have a small deli at back right of store that has some sides, mains. Their whole roasted chicken is $98. For sides/salads, they have cut up fruit just to the le as you enter. Also have bags of salad fixings, along with bags of fresh veggies like cauliflower and broccoli (and salad dressing) along the le wall by produce to make a quick toss salad (bowl available at potluck). Other suggesons: Pick up pizza(s) or have them delivered. Subway sandwiches, or buy sandwich ‘fixins’ (bread, meat, cheese, mayo, mustard etc.) for people to make own sandwich. I didn’t find any in Rosarito, but in States can get fully cooked and sliced ham. If have an oven/stove and can do ‘Heat and Serve’ meals, Smart and Final had the best Frozen food secon. Mains: Chicken Tenders, Buffalo wings, Buffalo drummies; Sides: onion rings, potato wedges and tater tots etc. They also sell the cookie sheet you’d need! Calimax and Walmart also have a couple frozen main items—Walmart has lasagna. In the States, we always shop at Costco, they have a wide variety of sides, mains that you just heat and serve!
