ELTON JOHN & ’S Canoe Theatrical Productions Inc continues its 2013 season with the Kingston premiere of Aida . This Tony Award winning musical was written by , and Henry Hwang with music by and lyrics by Tim Rice. Winner of four , five Touring Awards and a Grammy (Best Musical Show Album), Aida went on to be listed as one of Time Magazine’s top ten musicals in 2000.

Recalled as “The Timeless Love Story”, Aida is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever.

Directed by Blue Canoe’s Artistic Director, Michael Sheppard and produced by Blue Canoe’s General Manager, Andrew Taggart , Aida stars youth from Kingston, Queen’s University and the local high schools, all between the ages of 13-30.

Performances at the Baby Grand Theatre , 218 Princess St inside the historic Grand Theatre from April 3 rd – 13 th with shows at 7:30PM and a Matinee 13 th at 2:00PM. Tickets are on sale at the Grand Theatre Box Office (613-530-2050 – www.kingstongrand.ca ) or at the TriColour Outlet located in the JDUC (613-533-2120 – www.tricolouroutlet.ca ) Tickets are $20 for Adults, $15 for students/seniors. All prices are subject to taxes and box offices charges.

Blue Canoe Theatrical Productions Inc. is a non-profit theatre organization in Kingston, Ontario that supports youth in the arts by creating quality community theatre at an affordable price. Blue Canoe’s performers, production staff, bands and management are all youth between the ages of 13-30.
