The Nashville Jazz Workshop (NJW) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching people’s lives through jazz education and performance. For 20 years the NJW has delivered world class performances and music education to Nashville audiences and jazz fans around the country and the world. 2020 has been a challenging year for cultural institutions everywhere as they seek to fulfill their missions and remain financially viable. Fortunately, the internet has enabled the NJW to continue serving audiences and students – over 20,000 people have subscribed to the NJW’s YouTube channel to view live and archived performances and hundreds have enrolled in virtual classes since social distancing restrictions began in March. Jazzmania is the NJW’s annual jazz party and fundraiser. As a live event it has been “the jazz party of the year” and one of the city’s most engaging and fun charity events. As with other charity events, the event is moving online this year as a virtual event. On October 24, 2020 the Workshop will host Jazzmania as an online jazz party and evening of world class jazz performances. We will share our love of jazz, celebrate the Workshop’s 20th anniversary and ask our devoted fans to open their hearts and wallets to support the Workshop. The streaming event will also be targeted to a global audience, to build awareness of the NJW and engagement with jazz fans around the world.     DAVE MATTHEWS BAND REVEALS TRACK LISTING FOR COME TOMORROW Album Pre-Order Underway At Band’s Online Store For Come Tomorrow, Set For June 8 Release On RCA Records Today, Dave Matthews Band revealed the track listing for its ninth studio album, Come Tomorrow, and announced plans to release the first single, “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin),” on May 10. Come Tomorrow – due out June 8 on RCA Records – is the band’s first studio album since 2012's Away From The World, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. See below for track listing. Hailed by Rolling Stone as an “understated plea for compassion and tolerance,” “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” is already a fan favorite. The band debuted it live in May 2016. Brandi Carlile harmonizes with Matthews on the shimmering title track, written by Matthews in 2017, which finds hope in our youth and the impact they will have on the world. Working in studios in Seattle, Los Angeles and Charlottesville, Dave Matthews Band chose to record Come Tomorrow with several different producers, including John Alagia, Mark Batson, Rob Cavallo and Rob Evans. A white vinyl, 2-LP edition of Come Tomorrow will be available exclusively through the Dave Matthews Band and Warehouse Official Stores, where the album pre-order is underway. Come Tomorrow will also be available in CD, digital and cassette formats. Fans who pre-order through the official Dave Matthews Band store will receive a free seven-song companion disc. Warehouse members will receive a 10-song companion disc. We are so pleased that you are here with us to experience a wonderful day highlighting jazz education and music-making by talented artists. Our participants embody the very best of high school instrumental and vocal jazz in large and small ensemble combinations, as well as solo vocalists in our specialized Jazz Singer Showcase category. We are very proud that our event is the largest of its kind in the United States, featuring thousands of student performers representing public and private high schools from across the country. It also represents hundreds of music educators at the top of their craft who empower and influence students with their teaching every single day. None of the students would be here without their teachers and we honor, appreciate, and acknowledge this fact. One of our goals with the festival is to provide enriching opportunities for young artists to experience jazz from multiple angles (i.e., performing, attending clinics and exhibits, and hearing performances by other musicians). In addition, we recognize the power of bringing music teachers together to showcase the talents and efforts of their students, expand their professional networks, and inspire each other. Accordingly, throughout the day, we have scheduled time for all of these activities, and we encourage you to explore and take advantage of the festival’s many facets. This year, we are pleased to announce that Thomas “TL” Lizotte, band director for Cape Elizabeth High School in Maine, will receive the John LaPorta Jazz Educator of the Year Award.
