McClain The electric power sector of the United States has undergone several major shifts since the deregulation of wholesale electricity markets began in the 1990s. One interesting shift is the transition away from coal-powered plants toward a greater mix of natural gas and renewable sources. This transition has been spurred by three major factors: rising costs of prepared coal for use in power generation, a significant expansion of economical domestic natural gas production coupled with a corresponding decline in prices, and rapid advances in technology for renewable power generation.1 The transition from coal, which included the early retirement of coal plants, has affected major price-determining factors within the electric power sector such as operation and maintenance costs, 1 U.S. BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS capital investment, and fuel costs. Through these effects, the decline of coal as the primary fuel source in American electricity production has affected both wholesale and retail electricity prices. Identifying specific price effects from the transition away from coal is challenging; however the producer price indexes (PPIs) for electric power can be used to compare general trends in price development across generator types and regions, and can be used to learn valuable insights into the early effects of fuel switching in the electric power sector from coal to natural gas and renewable sources. The PPI program measures the average change in prices for industries based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). -

With estimated number of visitors in hand, it gives me ample time to prepare products for my clients’ satisfaction. THE PIMA PROJECT RESEARCH DISSEMINATION NOTE Poverty ad ecosyste service ipacts of Tazaia’s Wildlife Maageet Areas BURUNGE WMA Map of Burunge WMA Burunge was registered in 2006 and received user rights in Manyara 2007. Its nine1 member villages are: Kakoi, Olasiti, Magara, Lake Manyara Ranch National Park Maweni, Manyara, Sangaiwe, Mwada, Ngolei, Vilima Vitatu. They are home to ca. 34,000 people of the Mbugwe, Barbaig, Iraqw, Maasai and Warusha ethnicities have set Burunge aside 280 km2 for wildlife conservation purposes, WMA facilitated by African Wildlife Foundation and Babati District. Located between Tarangire National Park, Tarangire Manyara Ranch and Lake Manyara National Park in Babati National Park district, Manyara region, the WMA features a large tourism potential. Currently the WMA has agreements with four tourism investors operating across 6 lodge sites and one hunting block. The PIMA project dissemination note Fig. 1: Map of Burunge WMA (white). This was the fifth Census after the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964. Other censuses were carried out in 1967, 1978, 1988 and 2002. The 2012 PHC, like previous censuses, will contribute to the improvement of quality of life of Tanzanians through the provision of current and reliable data for policy formulation, development planning and service delivery as well as for monitoring and evaluating national and international development frameworks. The 2012 PHC is unique as the collected information will be used in monitoring and evaluating the Development Vision 2025 for Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar Development Vision 2020, Five Year Development Plan 2011/12–2015/16, National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP) commonly known as MKUKUTA and Zanzibar Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (ZSGRP) commonly known as MKUZA. The Census will also provide information for the evaluation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2015. The Poverty Monitoring Master Plan, which is the monitoring tool for NSGRP and ZSGRP, mapped out core indicators for poverty monitoring against the sequence of surveys, with the 2012 PHC being one of them. Several of these core indicators for poverty monitoring are measured directly from the 2012 PHC. -

Tanzania Work Plan FY 2019 Project Year 8 October 2018–September 2019 ENVISION is a global project led by RTI International in partnership with CBM International, The Carter Center, Fred Hollows Foundation, Helen Keller International, IMA World Health, Light for the World, Sightsavers, and World Vision. ENVISION is funded by the US Agency for International Development under cooperative agreement No. AID-OAA-A-11-00048. The period of performance for ENVISION is September 30, 2011, through September 30, 2019. ENVISION Project Overview The US Agency for International Development (USAID)’s ENVISION project (2011–2019) is designed to support the vision of the World Health Organization (WHO) and its member states by targeting the control and elimination of seven neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), including lymphatic filariasis (LF), onchocerciasis (OV), schistosomiasis (SCH), three soil-transmitted helminths (STH; roundworm, whipworm, and hookworm), and trachoma. ENVISION’s goal is to strengthen NTD programming at global and country levels and support ministries of health (MOHs) to achieve their NTD control and elimination goals. At the global level, ENVISION—in close coordination and collaboration with WHO, USAID, and other stakeholders—contributes to several technical areas in support of global NTD control and elimination goals, including the following: • Drug and diagnostics procurement, where global donation programs are unavailable • Capacity strengthening • Management and implementation of ENVISION’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) • Disease mapping • NTD policy and technical guideline development • NTD monitoring and evaluation (M&E). -

INTRODUCTION Hydroelectric Power -- what is it? It=s a form of energy … a renewable resource. Hydropower provides about 96 percent of the renewable energy in the United States. Other renewable resources include geothermal, wave power, tidal power, wind power, and solar power. Hydroelectric powerplants do not use up resources to create electricity nor do they pollute the air, land, or water, as other powerplants may. Hydroelectric power has played an important part in the development of this Nation's electric power industry. Both small and large hydroelectric power developments were instrumental in the early expansion of the electric power industry. Hydroelectric power comes from flowing water … winter and spring runoff from mountain streams and clear lakes. Water, when it is falling by the force of gravity, can be used to turn turbines and generators that produce electricity. Hydroelectric power is important to our Nation. Growing populations and modern technologies require vast amounts of electricity for creating, building, and expanding. In the 1920's, hydroelectric plants supplied as much as 40 percent of the electric energy produced. Although the amount of energy produced by this means has steadily increased, the amount produced by other types of powerplants has increased at a faster rate and hydroelectric power presently supplies about 10 percent of the electrical generating capacity of the United States. Hydropower is an essential contributor in the national power grid because of its ability to respond quickly to rapidly varying loads or system disturbances, which base load plants with steam systems powered by combustion or nuclear processes cannot accommodate. Reclamation=s 58 powerplants throughout the Western United States produce an average of 42 billion kWh (kilowatt-hours) per year, enough to meet the residential needs of more than 14 million people. -

The objective was to investigate general conditions and to identify the explicit needs of the communities. Relevant socio-economic data on production, livestock, ecological system, etc, is presented, as well as a historical overview of the developments in the water supply sector. Water-use patterns and standards of health, hygiene and sanitation were investigated in 75 households. An attempt was made to evaluate improvements to the water supply in two of the villages, i.e. the functioning of the supplies, the extent of utilization and the impact, e.g. on water use patterns, work burdens and general welfare and health. The effectiveness of the strategy for improving water supplies using shallow wellls with handpumps is assessed. The aspects of density and location of supply are stressed as crucial for the achievement of impact. An alternative strategy is suggested — the improvement of all traditional sources both for domestic and non-domestic uses (livestock and small vegetable gardens). -
