Tours are managed through Destination Bluegrass, Inc. Registration and payment are separate from the LWML Convention Registration.

Choose one or more tour options described below and discover the beauty, history, and heartbeat of the Bluegrass! Tours are not inclusive of lunch unless specified in description. TOUR 1: Buffalo Trace Distillery / Rebecca Ruth Candies

The Trace Tour at Buffalo Trace is an incredible introduction to the history and science of bourbon. Guests will walk amidst the path of rolling bourbon barrels while being captivated by the alluring smell and atmosphere of bourbon sleeping inside the aging warehouses – and keenly aware that they are standing where history was and continues to be made in the heart of Kentucky. Welcoming and inviting grounds, ADA accessible facilities, passionate and enthusiastic guides – all the ingredients for a memorable experience. Before heading back, a quick stop at Rebecca Ruth Candies. After years of being in the education field, two women came to the conclusion that they were not cut out for substituting and teaching; and in 1919 Rebecca Ruth Candy was born! Through the hardship of Prohibition, Women’s Suffrage, World Wars I and II and the Great Depression, the company still stands strong at an incredible 101 years of operation. This experience invites you to see the process, smell the confection and taste the deliciousness of Rebecca Ruth candies. TOUR 2: Nursery Farm / Keeneland

Join us at Mill Ridge Farm, near iconic Keeneland Racetrack, and experience a farm renowned for raising and selling first class . Owner Alice Headley Chandler’s father, Hal Price Headley, was the main force in the founding of Keeneland, and the first President of what is considered one of the greatest racetracks in the world. Named for its location atop the highest point of Bowman Mill Road, your Mill Ridge tour begins in the Breeding Shed where you will gain an understanding of why this land is so uniquely suited for the Thoroughbred and participate in the storytelling of the Headley family involvement in the industry. Leaving Mill Ridge we will continue to Keeneland Racetrack. Located in the Horse Capital of the World, Keeneland is an internationally renowned racecourse and the Thoroughbred industry’s leading auction house. Founded in 1936, Keeneland’s mission is to continually invest in the industry and to preserve the tradition of . TOUR 3: Lexington City Tour / Scenic Drive

The historic Lexington homes that are open for tours showcase a variety of architectural styles, as well as the stories of some of Lexington’s most influential and fascinating families and individuals. Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate. Henry Clay was an important statesman and famous orator in early 19th- century American politics, a U.S. Senator, Speaker of the House, Secretary of State, and three-time Presidential candidate. The Henry Clay Estate features 600 acres of gardens and park as well as a beautiful home open to the public. The . Mary Todd, who would become Mrs. Abraham Lincoln, one of America’s most controversial First Ladies, was born in Lexington in 1818. Her childhood home, located in the heart of Lexington, allows for a closer look into her early life. Hopemont, The Hunt-Morgan House. The brick house at 201 North Mill Street has several claims to historic fame. It was built in 1814 and is cherished not only for its human history, but for its architectural features as well. Representing a Kentucky adaptation of the Federal style, it features a large, impressive entrance door with leaded fanlight and sidelight windows; reeded woodwork and door jambs; beautifully carved mantels; and a three-story cantilevered staircase. From the brick-and-mortar architecture wonders of the city – continue to the natural architecture of some of the most scenic byways in the Bluegrass. Points of interest along the way. Just outside of Lexington, along sections of Old Frankfort Pike and the shorter Pisgah Pike, you’ll find grazing horses, wide-open spaces, beautiful barns, and some extravagant properties hidden by fencing and lush trees. This area is filled with expansive horse farms, stone fencing, and historic properties that seem too perfect to be real. Bring your camera! TOUR 4: Churchill Downs / Derby Museum

Home to the most exciting two minutes in sports, the , Churchill Downs is rich in history and tradition. Guests will enjoy a 30-minute, guided walking tour of this historic Racetrack while taking in the Twin Spires and “The Big Board”. Learn about past Derby winners and the rich history of this location. Visitors will walk through the property to the paddock and out to the grandstand learning trivia and fun facts along the way. This tour is wheelchair accessible. Located in the heart of the Bluegrass State, Bardstown offers the ultimate getaway with an atmosphere that seems to have magically leaped from the paintings of Normal Rockwell and the pages of Mark Twain. In just an afternoon, one can easily understand why Rand McNally and USA Today declared Bardstown the Most Beautiful Small Town in America. Stop awhile, take a stroll along these charming streets. One of the most notable addresses in Bardstown is that of “My Old Kentucky Home”. Guests will explore the 200-year-old mansion and plantation of the Rowan family. While taking in stories of deadly duels, , fortune, fame, demise, all alongside original fine antiques, & beautiful architectural spaces. And yes, no experience here would be complete without the performance of the song for which the house is name, “My Old Kentucky Home.” A final stop at Barton 1792 Distillery, the oldest fully operating Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Situated in heart of the bourbon country on 196 acres, the Distillery boasts 29-barrel aging warehouse, 22 other buildings including an impressive still house, and the legendary Tom Moore Spring. Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. Ark Encounter is situated in the beautiful Williamstown, Kentucky, halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington on I-75. From the moment you turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, you’ll experience the pages of the Bible like never before. Tour 7: Creation Museum

The Creation Museum shows why God’s infallible Word, rather than Man’s faulty assumptions, is the place to begin if we want to make sense of our world. The 75,000 square foot facility allows you to experience earth history as God has revealed it in the Bible. Nearly 15 exhibits feature fearsome animatronic dinosaurs, talking heroes of faith and professional displays that honor God’s Word. The museum also boasts a fun-filled, 200 seat state-of-the-art planetarium, a petting zoo, nature trails and lots more! At the heart of the Creation Museum is the chronological retelling of biblical history in seven parts called the Seven C’s. All pricing is per person and includes admission, ground transportation, guide, lunch if noted and a $3.00 paid rebate back to LWML.

To register, click on the corresponding link below indicating which day, morning or afternoon and then processing payment as prompted. You will receive a confirmation email once your transaction is complete. Thirty days out from the tour you will receive additional information as to what to wear, where to meet, etc. Registration is separate from your LWML Convention registration and is being process by Destination Bluegrass, Inc., Lexington, Kentucky.

Cancellation Policy:

Reservations received after May 26, 2021 are subject to availability. Some tours require a minimum number of participants in order to take place. If a tour does not meet that minimum number, registered participants will be notified and given the opportunity to select another tour or receive a full refund, less administrative fee.

Cancellation before May 26, 2021 will receive a full refund, less administrative fee of $3.95 per registration.

Cancellations received after May 26, 2021 are not eligible for refund.
