➢ Department of Education Update for High Schools (Aden Ramirez) ○ Aden was unable to join the call today. ○ Cindy and Aden are working on starting a quarterly phone call beginning in January and all of the High School Coordinators and Instructors to discuss updates or changes. ➢ Tap changes and Candidate Handbooks on D and S site (Cindy) ○ Katy from D&S Headmaster: We now have the updated handbook on the D&S website with the new changes from the TAP Committee. The changes are currently highlighted in grey. ■ If you would like to order new handbooks, please send an email to: [email protected]. We will only send 100 copies for the first request. If your school needs more than 100 you can request more after February 1st, 2021. ○ Headmaster will have Skill workshops on the following dates for 2021: 1/15, 1/21, 1/24, 1/27. This will be a virtual training and will max out at 15 participants per workshop. ■ Per Cindy- we can add more workshops if needed. I highly encourage any new Program Coordinators or Instructors to attend. ○ Headmaster will be filming videos for the new skills and skill changes that will start in February 2021. ○ Cindy- We will be meeting with the Test Observers on 12/17/2020 to talk about how testing is going. I will update all of you after that meeting. ➢ Feeding a dependent resident skill set up 240 ml and 120 ml (Cindy) ○ Reminder is a new setup for the Feeding a Dependent Resident skill. ■ 240ml cup will start with 240ml ■ 120 ml cup will start with 60ml ■ Students can now calculate within 45ml for a correct answer. ● Cindy has spoken to Therese and they will be watching this skill. It appears students tend to write the amount left in the glass instead of what was consumed. So it’s possible this change will not make a difference.

➢ Clinical Sites and Covid testing (Cindy) ○ Cindy: Is anyone still going to clinical? ■ Queen Creek, Pima CC,ACE and Pima Medical replied yes ○ Cindy: When it comes to clinical we need to start getting creative and think outside the box. Try calling Hospitals and other types of facilities to try and get your students to perform some hands on tasks. Even if only for 1 day it’s better than no actual patient/resident contact. If you do go back to clinical, please let me know. ○ Thank you to all you for moving forward during this hard time. If you are having difficulty, please reach out to Cindy so we can collaborate on ideas. ○ Classroom Clinical- please use patient/resident scenarios and set up the lab as a Long Term Care Facility. ○ When Students gain employment, remind them that they need to let the Employer know that they did not get in person clinical experience. ○ Clinical Testing: Is anyone doing clinical testing? Currently Kingman and Pima Medical are doing it 2x per week. Please consider clinical resting if your facility is not currently doing it. ○ COVID Vaccine: Is anyone requiring your students to get the vaccine? Group consensus was no. ■ Literature sees to be constantly changing and hopefully more concrete information will come out as time goes on. ○ Group agrees that hopefully we will get back to some type of normalcy soon. ➢ Classroom updates (Cindy) ○ None at this time ➢ Pass Rates and action plans (Cindy) ○ Current pass rates are: 82% on Knowledge and 83% on Skills ○ We will be looking at Programs that fall below 62% Knowledge and 63% Skills. ■ Those Programs will be asked to submit an Action Plan to the Board on what they feel caused them to fall below and the corrective action they plan to take. ● The Board will take COVID into account when reviewing potential problems. ➢ Testing for students (Cindy) ○ Cindy: How is testing going for everyone? ■ Yavapai- Our college went to phase red- I asked them about State Testing and got approval with modifications: We have to decrease the number of students per computer lab. Is this possible? ● Cindy- I will talk to D&S and let you know next week. ○ Cindy- If anyone is having problems or have thoughts on how we can navigate this please reach out so we can work on it together. ➢ Electronic Fingerprints (Cindy) ○ Board is now accepting electronic Fingerprints. ■ Go to the BON website > License and Certifications > Electronic Fingerprint Instructions: ● “To submit your fingerprints electronically, please complete your license application online using the Nurse Portal. Once you have completed the online application you will receive instructions on how to complete your electronic fingerprints. Note: Electronic fingerprints can only be completed after an application has been received by the Board and payment received.” ● Once the application is completed and payment is entered the student will be directed to complete the electronic fingerprinting application. ● https://www.azbn.gov/licenses-and-certifications/electronic-fing erprint-instructions ● I have attached a cheat sheet for the fingerprint application

➢ Industry partners ○ We have bi-weekly meetings with School Deans and Directors along with Industry Partners like Banner to get their thoughts regarding our programs. We discuss topics like the onboarding processes and clinical has been a main topic. ○ I will be gathering a group of Coordinators and Instructors to meet with Clinical LTC Partners to gather thoughts and suggestions on how we can work on collaboration together. ➢ Train the Trainer(Cindy) ○ Cindy: We are going to get this up and running as it had gotten dropped once COVID hit but now we are bringing it back to the forefront. ○ Over this last year we have approved 137 new Instructors and 33 new Coordinators changes. That is a lot of new people! ○ I have asked Tricia Pitts to gather the materials we had created during the previous meetings and help us move forward. ■ Next meeting I will ask for volunteers to help with this. It will be fun to do and will be presented to the Education Committee and the Board. ➢ Rules (Cindy) ○ We have received approval to look at Article 8 and make changes. I will be getting a group together to help work on this. ■ If everyone can start looking at Article 8 and make notes of what needs to be updated, changed or omitted. ■ Currently I am waiting on the Certified Medication Assistant pilot data as a large section of Article 8 pertaining to CMA will need to be updated/changed. That y we can do everything at once. ➢ Upcoming D and S workshops (Cindy) ○ Upcoming workshop dates listed above. I would like to see new Instructors and Coordinators attend workshops. we can add more dates if needed. ➢ Next years meetings (Cindy) ○ For 2021 I would really like to move to a more collaborative format andore involvement from you all. So many of you are doing great things and have valuable input. My thoughts would be to have the different schools present topics such as: New/Changing Data, COVID, Unique findings, Articles and even sessions on what work for or benefits for your program. This can be a 5 min up to longer session. ○ I will be asking for volunteers soon. If you have something you would like to share please email me (Cindy). ➢ Innovations/Concerns (All) ○ None at this time. Please be sure to complete the Monthly Clinical Update Form for the prior month: https://forms.gle/cqyV45hjfuCZtXTG9 ➢ Suggestions for Next Meeting - Please send suggestions to Board Staff (Thursday, January 14th, 2021)

➢ Meeting adjourned at 1:32pm ○ Thank you all for hanging in there during this COVID Crisis. You all are doing the best things and making these programs work. I appreciate ALL of you and everything that you do. Please let me know if you need any help.
