DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL 4 WELCOME

FROM MOTORSPORT VISION

I’m delighted to welcome all teams and competitors to this weekend for what I’m certain will be two days of superb historic motor racing, as the Donington Historic Festival returns to our circuit following its enforced absence last year.

The festival is a real highlight of the calendar here at Donington Park and I know it’s a weekend that many of our regular visitors look forward to each year. The event celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and that only adds to our enormous disappointment that we can’t open the circuit’s gates to spectators as we’d hoped.

Whilst you won’t be able to enjoy watching from the trackside, all of this weekend’s races will be streamed live online on the official Donington Historic Festival website. Whilst this isn’t quite the same as being there, I hope that allows some of you who were planning to attend to still enjoy the racing.

JONATHAN The event is now a well-established part of the UK’s historic motor racing scene and PALMER it’s a pleasure to work closely with the entire Historic Promotions team on all aspects of the festival. Indeed our in-house race organising division, MSVR, runs the track CHIEF EXECUTIVE - activity as the appointed club for the weekend. MOTORSPORT VISION Highlight races this year will include the all-new Amon Cup for Ford GT40s and the Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup for ‘60s GT, sports racing and touring cars. The event will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the E-type in the Jaguar Classic Challenge and welcome Grand Prix cars from the early 1960s. There will be other single-seater, GT and touring car races for cars from the ‘50s right through to the ‘80s across two busy days too.

Following on from this weekend we’re looking ahead to what I hope will be a much better year than the last. All being well, fans will be able to join us just a few weeks from now, before we welcome a limited number of spectators for a Bennetts British Superbike Championship test next month. Fans will then be able to attend major national and international events at the circuits through the summer.

This is also an exciting time for us here at the circuit, following the recent announcement that MSV has acquired the neighbouring Donington Hall Estate. We’re redeveloping the main Hall building into a hotel to open in 2023, whilst Hastings House is planned to become the all-new Donington Hall Motorhouse. Reuniting the racetrack with the magnificent Donington Hall was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up and I look forward to sharing further updates on these developments in the coming months.

I hope that you enjoy this weekend’s retro entertainment, whether from the driver’s here at the circuit or watching from home. I’ll look forward to welcoming you back to Donington Park again soon.

DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL 5 WELCOME

FROM HISTORIC PROMOTIONS

A very warm welcome from Historic Promotions to the Donington Historic Festival 2021, on this the 10th anniversary of the inaugural event in 2011.

Despite the current Covid restrictions meaning we cannot welcome spectators and our usual Festival attractions this weekend, we are delighted to present a packed programme of historic races and would like to thank all the teams and drivers who are supporting the event in such impressive numbers.

From Pre-War sports cars of the type that battled it out around Donington Park in the 1930s, to pre-’66 Grand Prix and cars from the HGPCA, stunning pre-‘56 and pre-‘61 sportscars, Formula Junior single-seaters, and Touring Cars from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, there is something for fans of all eras of classic motor racing. Jaguar enthusiasts can celebrate the 60th anniversary of the E-type with the one-hour Jaguar Classic Challenge race, while two important new historic race series from Motor racing Legends make their debut at the Festival. The Amon Cup DUNCAN for Ford GT40s closes the Saturday of the event with an 80-minute race for one of WILTSHIRE the most iconic GT cars of all time, while the Sunday of the Festival finishes with a three-hour Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup race for GT, sports racing and HISTORIC PROMOTIONS Touring Cars built before 1966.

We are most grateful for the continued support from our event partners Dunlop/ Goodyear and Silverstone Auctions and are also delighted to be working with TV to live stream every race this weekend, thanks to support from DK Engineering, Motor Racing Legends and the Royal Automobile Club.

Our thanks also go to Jaguar for providing the fabulous F-pace Course Car and Safety Car and for facilitating demos from two very historic Jaguar cars – the ex-Stirling Moss C-type and the TWR XJS.

Finally, we must thank all the team at MotorSport Vision and MSVR who play such an important part in making the Festival happen and our sincere thanks also go to our commentators, volunteer marshals and officials for their support. RICHARD It feels great to be back racing again, so we hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! GRAFTON HISTORIC PROMOTIONS
