GAME RULES (Roughly based on Official Scrabble Rules)

Setting up the Game: We plan on playing 3 rounds of Scrabble (1/2 hour limit/each game) with 8 participating; 2 teams per scrabble board. The games are scheduled as follows: Game #1 at 11:00, Game #2 at 11:45 and Game #3 at 12:30. They will be playing on magnetic boards; keeping their scores on the attached white board.

Starting the Game: A player from each will blindly draw a letter from a bag of 100 random tiles. Of the two teams/board the team that draws the letter closest to “A” starts the game. The drawn tiles are replaced in the bag. Each team takes turns drawing letters until each team has 7 letters.

Time Limit: Each team will have 1 minute to before the turn passes to the other team.

Playing Options During the Game: During any turn the team can choose to:

1. Place a word, or 2. Exchange one or all of their tiles for new tiles (forfeiting their turn), or 3. Pass (forfeiting their turn). If any player passes two times in a row, the game will end.

The First Word Score: When the game begins the first team will place their word on the star spin in the center of the board. All teams will build their word off of this word.

Replacing Scrabble Tiles: Once tiles are played on the board, Teams will draw new tiles to replace used tiles.

The End of a Scrabble Game: There will be a 30‐minute time limit to the game. If during that 30 minutes, all the tiles are gone from the bag and a team has placed all of their tiles, the game will end.

Tallying Scrabble Scores: Each team will tally up the value of their tiles on the Scrabble Board as they play and record them on their white board. When finished the scores will by logged along with their Scrabble Ride Points onto their SCRABBLE GAME SCORECARD that will be passed to their Table Monitor.
