It became one of Offenbach's most popular operettas. These two pieces presage the libretto of The Paris Mapguide: The Essential Guide to La Vie Parisienne vie parisienne which can be dated from late Two Parisian dandies, Bobinet and Gardefeu are waiting for the train from Rambouilletbut avoid each other while they walk around. She arrives with a third man and pretends not to recognize the two previous lovers. Her rejection reunites the two friends and they vow to seek a better class of mistress "Elles sont tristes, les marquises". While wondering how he will achieve this Gardefeu sees his former servant Joseph, now a tourist guide. Joseph reveals that he is to meet a Swedish baron and his wife who he is to show around Paris but for a sum agrees to let Gardefeu take his place. While he goes to look for the baron, Gardefeu wonders what will happen with the baroness "Ce que c'est pourtant que la vie! At Gardefeu's home, his glove-maker Gabrielle and his boot-maker Frick await the master's return "Entrez! Gardefeu continues his pretence with the Swedes, explaining that they are in an annexe to the hotel, hoping to get the baron out of the way so that he can pay attention to the baroness; the baron already has his plans based on a letter from a friend "Dans cette ville toute pleine". The problem of missing hotel guests is solved by getting Gabrielle and Frick and their friends to impersonate other hotel guests. Bobinet calls by and offers to stage a party for the Swedes at his absent aunt's mansion the following night, with the baron invited. Baron Gondremarck arrives and is taken by Pauline 'Madame l'amirale' in fact a chambermaid. Bobinet rises to greet the crowd with a drinking song "En endossant mon uniforme" and the champagne flows "Soupons, soupons, c'est le moment"the baron and everyone else gets drunk. La Vie parisienne (operetta) - Wikipedia The place is nice and relaxing. The drinks are delicious. But, the waitresses and the cashier do not know what customer service is. They don't smile, don't approach nicely, treat us as if we can't afford to pay maybe because we don't look classyand need serious training for customer service, and the proper etiquette of handling customers. The behavior of the staff reflects the manager and the whole management of the place. So better do some action! Also, if you will be charging corkage for the foods brought outside, place a signage or at least let your staff inform the customers about it. It is not right to charge us with corkage when in fact we are not aware that it should be applied. Not all restaurants charge it. Please don't use Jollibee and Mcdo as example because we can always bring Mcdo foods to Jollibee without corkage when in fact they are competitors. Complete with bustling servers ignoring the customers - just like Paris! Fortunately the bread, cheese, sausage and parma ham, not to mention the almond tarts and croissants, were worth fighting through the crowded, hot room and the long line at the cash. We got our food to take out but the outside garden eating looks quite lovely - except for the great clouds of cigarette smoke everywhere. Worth a second trip. My boyfriend and I went there after breakfast. Before going there, we heard that they have all this faux Cherry Blossom trees and sell French Macaroons. Pretty much give that Parisian Feel. And they were right. We spent around two hours at La Vie Parisienne, talking and laughing while munching over soda and bread - plus enjoying the ambiance. Sure, the cherry blossom trees weren't real but it pretty much adds some feel good vibe to the place. Must go when in Cebu. We tried the new la vie branch in ayala cebu and the 1st thing we've noticed was their terible service. Attendants did not know how to deal with customers well. I would still prefer their main branch in lahug. We visited late afternoon and we were lucky the place wasn't very crowded. The croissants we had were okay. Not a fan of French pastries, they all taste the same to me. Photo - worthy, so you'll see loads of photos uploaded online adding to the hype. He changed his first name to Jacques when he was 14 and living in Paris. Jacques’ father was a musician, and gave lessons on violin, flute, guitar, cello, and composition. Jacques began composing songs at the age of eight. At age 14 he entered the Paris Conservatory, but left after a year. However, Jacques continued to take composition lessons.     AUSTRALIAN EPHEMERA COLLECTION FINDING AID DAME JOAN SUTHERLAND, OM, AC, DBE AND RICHARD BONYNGE, AC, CBE PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS AND EPHEMERA (PROMPT) PRINTED AUSTRALIANA APRIL 2018 The Sutherland/Bonynge file in the Library’s PROMPT collection documents the extensive and intertwined Australian and overseas careers of opera singer Joan Sutherland, and orchestral conductor Richard Bonynge. This husband and wife team of musicians helped the career of the other by frequently performing together, her usually as principal singer under his baton. It was Bonynge who discovered Sutherland’s ability to sing the great bel canto roles and to this end he researched and conducted the operatic repertoire which most suited his wife’s unique coloratura voice. CONTENT Printed materials in the PROMPT collection include programs and printed ephemera such as brochures, leaflets, tickets, etc. Theatre programs are taken as the prime documentary evidence of a performance by Sutherland/Bonynge. In a few cases however, the only evidence of a performance is a piece of printed ephemera. In these cases the type of piece is identified, eg, brochure. The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated as gaps in the Library’s holdings for these artists are filled. Technology forms an accidental detour leading from humanity to more humanity. In an alternative, “Olympian” practice of singing, humanity and machinery constantly and productively contaminate each other. My readings, centering around the singing doll Olympia from Jacques Offenbach’s 1881 opera Les Contes d’Hoffmann , illuminate the affective and ethical consequences of the confrontation between Promethean and Olympian song.
