Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly M0, Member for Nahendeh

Mackenzie Valley Land & P® Box 2130 Yellowknife, NT X1A 2P6

Dear Sirs,

As the MLA for Nahendeh I would like to provide to you in writing my views and opinions with regard to the Water License Renewal application of Cantung.

Companies such as Cantung use our proximity lands and resources, yet are not required to benefit our communities and businesses. In the new regulatory regime it is not irregular for a licensing body to stipulate a condition that the socio-economic beneficiaries in the NWT must be NWT communities.

I strongly support the fact that there be a percentage of businesses and NWT local employees working at the Cantung Mine. Every effort must be extended to maximize our benefits from NWT resources.

In the past, the previous owner of North American Tungsten was committed and in good faith began discussions with local communities and businesses but did not complete it.

I am not in support of any businesses that do not follow their commitments and benefit our NWT residents- There must be a way to ensure that NWT resources benefit NWT residents.

Cantung is in a position to benefit the NWT and they must. I thank you for this opportunity and should you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

e/imnMenicoche MLA, Nahendeh
