10th Annual Central Bucks A Cappella Festival Tamanend April 27th, Middle 2019 School http://www.cbsd.org/acappella Those of you who have participated in past A Cappella festivals know you’re in for a great day of singing on April 27th; If this is your first year of involvement, get ready to have an awesome time! This year’s festival will once again be held at Tamanend Middle School and will include afternoon master class sessions and an evening concert. Two Special Guests We are thrilled to welcome The House Jacks to CB for the 6th time, as one of our guest clinicians for the afternoon and headlining performer for the evening concert. Founded in 1991, The House Jacks instantly redefined what people thought of as “vocal music.” Combining their virtuosic harmonies with spectacular stagecraft, these world-class performers continue to push the boundaries of the human voice, thrilling audiences around the world. In addition to their jaw-dropping performances and multi-award-winning albums of original music, The House Jacks are among the world’s leading a cappella educators, providing extensive coaching to scholastic and professional groups, as well as corporate clients worldwide. To commemorate the 10th Annual Festival, we will also host a 2nd clinician for the day, the “Father of Contemporary A Cappella” himself, Deke Sharon. Deke is largely responsible for the current sound of modern a cappella, having created the dense vocal- instrumental sound in college, subsequently spreading it around the world. He founded the Contemporary A Cappella Society while in college, and is responsible for many seminal a cappella programs, including the CARAs (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, ICCAs (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella), BOCA (Best of College A Cappella Compilations), the first contemporary a cappella conferences (The A Cappella Summit), the Contemporary A Cappella League, the professional ensembles Voasis and Vocalosity, and Camp A Cappella. His latest project for Disney – D Cappella – launched in 2018. Deke produced “The Sing- Off“ worldwide (USA, Netherlands, China, South Africa), served as arranger, on-site music director and vocal producer for all 3 “Pitch Perfect” movies. He is the most sought-after clinician in the a cappella world, working with singers of all ages across the globe. Your Performances During the Day Your chorus will be performing up to four times during the festival: 1) During the afternoon clinics, CB choral groups perform for their middle school peers and the House Jacks in the auditorium AND for Deke Sharon in the chorus room.
