3rd Orange African Nations Championship Media Brunch Athlone Stadium on the 09 January 2014

Left: Mr Mbuyiseli Boqwana, GCIS Assistant Director, welcomed community media journal- ists and representatives from various Commu- nity Sports Councils at the CHAN Media brunch at Athlone Stadium. Far Left : Mr Louis Botha, GCIS Deputy Direc- tor, gave background to the Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) and also used the opportunity to share the government key messages on the CHAN 2014.

Above Left: Mr Siyabulela Nyakaza from the Sport Council delivered a message of support. In his message he mentioned that Gugulethu Sport bodies will sup- port the CHAN by going to the stadiums during the games and will further encourage their supporters to do the same. Above Middle: Balisa Jokolo of Langa Sport Council also gave their message of support to the Tournament. She used this opportunity to outline their local plan to promote CHAN 2014 in Langa, in partnership with Lovelife. Above Right: Mr Cecil Ngotya, representing Nyanga Sport Council, briefed the media on their plans to host a the Community based CHAN 2014. 16 Local Soccer teams will represent all the countries playing in the actual tournament. The tournament is organised to highlight the anti– xenophobia campaign.

AFRICA’S HOME CHAMPIONS. CELEBRATE AFRICA.

On Saturday11 January 2014 GCIS North West Province implemented a Big Screen Public Viewing of the CHAN Tournament at the Tshedimosetso Thusong Centre community hall in Boikhutso Village, Ventersdorp. The mood was ecstatic as the local community witnessed Bafana Bafana walloping Mozambique (3-1). Participants received promotional Vuvuzela’s, SA Flags, key holders, branded pens, CHAN fixture information, and a light snack during the viewing; the sounds of the Vuvuzela resonated from all corners of the village well into the night.

Pictorial Report of the Big Screen for CHAN 2014 at Eldorado Sports Complex on 11 January 2014. Blouberg Muncipality organised local football teams for curtain raising for the viewing of the opening Match between and Mozambique. The Mayor of Blouberg pledged R1000.00 to the winners of the curtain raise. With the partnership forged by GCIS,the host city ( Polokwane ) pledged with 15 complemetary tickets for the opening games,50 Tshirts and 100 Caps for the curtain raiser tournament.
