Tea Can Be Prepared In Many Ways....

 Tea brewing is a special art from which requires that very special blending of the talents of a Master Brewer, whose passion for creating a unique brew with the range of tea grades at his disposal, is a driving force for excellence.

 A Master Brewer with that instinctive knowledge of tea guards, will combine passion with the creation of a brew that products that very special flavor, and aroma, which his passion and love for an unique infusion, makes it stand out in a very special way.

 The most vital element in creating and outstanding brew is in the selection of the right tea leaves.

 Most connoisseurs prefer whole leaf grades of single origin, single state, definitive agro - climatic areas, that have been processed in the orthodox method, as this captures all the goodness of natural tea, enhancing the brew to the maximum.

 An important aspect in the process is that, over steeping of the leaves will result in the brew turning bitter, thus close monitoring must be observed.  It is crucial to the process that the quality of water used, should be spring water. Alternatively, filtered tap water may be used since normal water on tap have purifying chemicals in it which can affect the characteristics of a good brew. Refrain from using hot water on tap as this too has and adverse effect on the brew.

 To get the most satisfying cup of tea, the recommended steeping time and water temperature differs with each type of tea.

 Poor hot water (freshly boiled at 100C or 212F, in to the pot of leaves and allow to brew for 2-3 minutes. is brewed in a similar manner but the water temperature should be around 80C and left to mix for 4-5 minutes.

White Tea is brewed in a similar manner but the water temperature should be around 65 to 70c and allowed to brew for a longer period of 6-7 minutes. If a stronger brew is required from either Black or Green tea, it is recommended that you use more tea leaves rather than increase the brewing time, which will cause the liquid to become bitter. Adding milk to black tea has been a tradition that started in the late 1600’s and is today still very popular in Asia, East Asia, and some western countries like the UK and some Middle East countries. At TIZOTO, we offer our own range of tea mixes prepared with our special recipes that balances the characteristics of each carefully selected ingredient to give a smooth tea with a variety of fruit, herbal and dessert flavors.

These can be prepared as mixes garnished with various fruits and herbs. Our tea can also be made as smoothies with mixes as innovative and adventurous as one wishes to be. By intermingling our many varieties of tea, you have yourself a real thirst Quencher! Be guided by the following rules to infuse the best brew that will satisfy your taste buds.

 Use fresh spring water or filtered tap water.  Select a good tea, preferably a leaf of your preference.  Allow the correct time for the tea to steep.  Use a strainer, tea basket or a tea ball making it easier for the spent tea leaves to be removed from the infusion.

Sri Lanka is the world’s leading exporter of Tea with 23% of the total market share worldwide (closely followed by Kenya at 22%). The industry was introduced to the country in 1867 by James Taylor, a British planter who arrived in 1852. The first recorded shipment of tea came five years later in 1872 with the export of 23 pounds, valued at 58 rupees. The first vessel recorded as carrying Ceylon Tea to England was the steam-ship “Duke Argyll” in 1877. As the climate of the small island varies very much according to locality, there is a marked effect on the flavor and quality of the tea, allowing Sri Lanka to offer a large variety of tea.
